The eldest Daughter of Samuel John Galton and Lucy Barclay, Mary Anne Galton was the sister of Samuel Tertius Galton and the aunt of Francis Galton . Belonging to a noble Schimmelpenninck family family , Schimmelpenninck was a member of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands and Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations Netherlands Minister of Interior 1841 1846 and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Netherlands Foreign minister 1843 under William II of the Netherlands King William II , who was a proponent of some reform in government. From 1847 to 1853 he was King s Commissioner of the province of Gelderland . He was at the time befriended with Thorbecke . However, when Thorbecke had become the first Dutch Prime Minister , he considered Schimmelpenninck as a conservative unfit to remain King s Commissioner and fired him towards the end of his first cabinet much against the king s wishes . Their friendship ended with that. Afterwards Schimmelpenninck held high functions at the court and returned to the House of Representatives, of which in 1858 he was List of Presidents of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands President . During this time she wrote over 3,000 poems most of which were carried in the Philadelphia area and syndicated to other newspapers within the United States and the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. The Ledger Syndicate coordinated the distribution of Anne Mary Lawler s poetry and they were an affiliate of the Philadelphia Public Ledger newspaper. During this time she also wrote feature articles for the Public Ledger and in her personal time wrote radio scripts, short stories and novelettes.
