Born in Seattle, Washington , Dimmick received a Bachelor of Arts B.A. from the University of Washington in 1951 and a Juris Doctor J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 1953. She was an Assistant state attorney general of Washington from 1953 to 1954, and was a Deputy prosecuting attorney of King County, Washington from 1955 to 1959 and from 1960 to 1962. She was in private practice of law in Seattle from 1959 60 again from 1962 65. She was a state court judge on the Northeast District Court, King County, Washington from 1965 75, then a superior court judge of the King County Superior Court from 1976 80, and finally a Justice of the Washington Supreme Court from 1981 85. Dimmick was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on March 7, 1985, to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington created by 98 Stat. 333. They are well known for their work on instruments such as King s College Cambridge , Westminster Abbey and the Royal Festival Hall . History of the firm Thomas Harrison established an organ building company in 1861 in Rochdale , then moved to Durham in 1872. The company was moderately successful but did not achieve real success until 1896 when Thomas s sons Arthur and Harry took over. Harry designed the organs and Arthur proved to be a particularly gifted voicer, resulting in commissions for rebuilds of several great organs including Durham Cathedral , the Royal Albert Hall and new commissions including Westminster Abbey . Arthur Harrison died in 1936 and Harry retired in 1946. The company passed to Harry s son Cuthbert.
