He describes himself as a brother of the Order of Hermits of St. Augustine , and a lector in sacred theology in the Province of Saxony . From his description of facts it appears that Vrie must have been an eyewitness to the events he records. The history is brought down to the election and consecration of Pope Martin V , 21 Nov., 1417. Vrie was still living in the sumer of 1425, when a general chapter of his order at Rome authorized the republication of his work. Vrie s work is modelled on the Consolation of Philosophy De consolatione philosophi of Boethius this also is its original title. It presents a picture of the facts and disorders of the time, pointing out their source, and the remedy under the form of a series of dialogues in prose and metre between Christ and the Church militant and church triumphant Church Militant . The De consolatione of Vrie was printed in Cologne in 1484 with the works of Jean Gerson fourth volume , but was not repeated in the Strasbourg edition of Gerson in 1494. Theodoric II Gothic language Gothic iudareiks II , Teodorico in Spanish language Spanish and Portuguese language Portuguese died 466 was King of Visigoths from 453 to 466. Theoderic II, son of Theodoric I , obtained the throne by killing his elder brother Thorismund . English historian Edward Gibbon writes that he justified this atrocious deed by the design which his predecessor had formed of violating his alliance with the empire. In late 458 Western Roman Emperor Majorian entered Septimania to attack Theodoric and reclaim the province for the empire. Majorian defeated Theodoric at the Battle of Arelate , forcing the Visigoths to abandon Septimania and withdraw west to Aquitania . Under the new treaty with the Romans, the Visigoths had to relinquish their recent conquests in Hispania and return to federate status. However, after the assassination of Majorian in 461, Theodoric recaptured Septimania and invaded Hispania again. Theodoric was himself murdered in 466 by his younger brother Euric , who succeeded him to the throne. Though other philosophers at this time followed in Albert s footsteps as well, Dietrich showed the most marked tendency to Albert s universality of interests Fuhrer 1992 . From the dates of Albert s life, we can assume that Dietrich was still young when Albert s career was almost at its end, and no assumption can be made to whether or not Dietrich ever met or studied under Albert. In medieval documents he is assigned the title of magister , which tells us he had a great deal of university training at an advanced level Fuhrer 1992 .
