MichaelStrassfeld is an American rabbi. Biography MichaelStrassfeld is rabbi of the Society for the Advancement of Judaism , a Manhattan synagogue. He started college at Yeshiva University , but transferred to Brandeis University and graduated in 1971. He holds an M.A. from Brandeis Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, and completed his doctoral coursework in Jewish History at Brandeis but did not submit a thesis. He was ordained by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 1991. Strassfeld first received wide public attention as one of the authors of the Jewish Catalog . History Strassfield was built prior to World War II as a grass airfield, probably a small airport serving the Euskirchen area. The Luftwaffe did not use the airfield until March, 1940 when Aufkl rungsgruppe 31 AKG 31 , a light reconnaissance unit flying Focke Wulf Fw 189 As, a light, twin engine reconnaissance plane was assigned to the airfield. The FW 189s were used to patrol the Franco German border area prior to the Battle of France invasion of the west on 10 May 1940.
