Mickey s Circus is an animated short film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released 1 August 1936. Known crew include director Ben Sharpsteen and animators Milt Kahl , Frank Thomas animator Frank Thomas , Al Eugster & Shamus Culhane . Although the film is called Mickey s Circus, the film mostly features Donald Duck however Mickey Mouse does feature in the beginning and end. Also featured are a trio of trained Sea Lions, a young Sea Lion pup, and an audience full of children. After being introduced by Mickey to the crowd of children, Donald and his Sea Lion act enter the circus ring, followed by a young Sea Lion pup. Much of the cartoon focuses on Donald s attempts to complete his circus act, but being thwarted by the pup. During the first act, juggling, Donald tries to stop the pup from stealing fish intended for the adult Sea Lions, and during Donald s second act he again faces the young seal who is stealing the show. Whilst trying to intervene, Mickey and Donald are fired from a canon and perform an unrehearsed high wire act, much to the amusement of the crowd. The cartoon ends with both Mickey and Donald performing a high dive into a pool. Notes In this film, the principal kids are aided by a new character, Little Chocolate . This may have been this character s only appearance in the series. It seems likely that Little Chocolate s addition to the Gang in this film had to do with the fact that Hambone Jimmy Robinson actor Jimmy Robinson has a smaller part. In this film, it is revealed that the character of Katrink is the younger brother of The Mighty Katrinka , the latter of whom was one of the original characters from the Toonerville Trolley comics. Stinkie Davis kidnaps Mickey s Kid Brudder and hides him in a box headed for a science professor. Mickey and the gang catch up with Mickey s brother, but soon get into a fight with Stinkie and his pals. The kids use some of the Professor s bombs as ammunition these bombs just so happen to contain chemicals similar to laughing gas, and they literally make the kids high as a kite. Stinkie finally throws a high explosive bomb, which lands in the mouth of Buster, the Scorpions dog. The bomb is set to go off at a certain time of the day.
