Multi Project Chip MPC or Multi Project Wafer MPW services integrate onto microelectronics wafers a number of different integrated circuit designs from various teams including designs from private firms, students and researchers from universities. Because IC fabrication costs are extremely high, it makes sense to share mask and wafer resources to produce designs in low quantities. Worldwide, several MPW services are available from government supported institutions or from private firms including MOSIS, CMP and Europractice. The first well known MPW service was MOSIS Metal Oxide Silicon Implementation Service , established by DARPA as a technical and human infrastructure for VLSI . MOSIS began in 1981 after Lynn Conway organized the first VLSI System Design Course at M.I.T. in 1978. MOSIS primarily services commercial users now but continues to serve university students and researchers. With MOSIS, designs are submitted for fabrication using either open i. e., non proprietary VLSI Design rule checking layout design rules or vendor proprietary rules. Designs are pooled into common lots and run through the fabrication process at foundries. The completed chips packaged or unpackaged are returned to customers. Many silicon fabrication facilities offer MPW runs or a company can produce its own MPW, e.g. combine several of its own designs to form one wafer completely owned by the company. In the latter case, it may be profitable to use most of the wafer for production chips and a small portion for producing prototypes of next generation chips. One application in which it may be useful is in Mobile ad hoc network ing MANET . Adaptive QoS routing is a cross layer optimization adaptive routing mechanism. The cross layer mechanism provides up to date local QoS information for the adaptive routing algorithm, by considering the impacts of node mobility and lower layer link performance. The multiple QoS requirements are satisfied by adaptively using forward error correction and multipath routing mechanisms, based on the current network status. The complete routing mechanism includes three parts 1 a modified dynamic source routing algorithm that handles route discovery and the collection of QoS related parameters 2 a local statistical computation and link monitoring function located in each node and 3 an integrated decision making system to calculate the number of routing paths, coding parity length, and traffic distribution rates. Transplant experiment known as a common garden experiment , although this term is more plant specific is an experiment where one or more organisms are moved from one environment biophysical environment to another environment. In a usual common garden experiment, two species of plants growing in their native environments would both be transplanted in a common environment. A reciprocal transplant involves introducing organisms from each of two or more environments into the other s . Transplant experiments are often performed to test if there is a genetics genetic component to differences in populations. In recent decades the advances of molecular biology have provided researchers with the ability to study genetic variation more directly. However, transplant experiments still have the advantages of being simple and requiring little technology. On the other hand, they may require considerable time and labour, and the number of test organisms is often relatively limited. ref name Molles cite book last Molles first Manuel C., Jr. title Ecology Concepts and Applications publisher The McGraw Hill Companies, Inc. edition International Edition date 2002 location New York pages 586 pp id ISBN 0 07 112252 4 ref See also Ecotype Field experiment Genotype and phenotype References references Category Biology experiments eo Transplanta eksperimento fi Siirtoistutus ... more details

The term legal transplant was coined in the 1970s by the Scottish American legal scholar Alan Watson W.A.J. Alan Watson to indicate the moving of a rule or a system of law from one country to another A. Watson, Legal Transplants An Approach to Comparative Law , Edinburgh , 1974 . The notion of legal transplantation is diffusionism based and according to this concept most changes in most legal systems occur as the result of borrowing. As maintained by Alan Watson Watson , transplantation is the most fertile source of legal development. Laws are commonly inspired by foreign policies and experiences. Regardless of the academic discourses on whether legal transplants are sustainable as a notion in the law legal theory , they are common practice. Nevertheless, the degree to which new laws are inspired by foreign examples can vary. A frequent and often justified criticism is that imported laws are not suited for a certain local context. German jurist Friedrich Carl von Savigny and his German Historical School historical school of jurisprudence , which was inspired by the 19th century Romanticism , have notably promoted the origins of the German people and their distinctive ethos , or Volksgeist the spirit of a people . Savigny s school of legal thought expressed the need of legal change to respect the continuity of the Volksgeist offering a pre Darwinian concept of juristic evolution. However, this concept of juristic evolution did not leave much space for notions such as legal transplants and the diffusion of law. In the recent time, Pierre Legrand was one of the strongest opponents of legal transplants. Today, legal transplants are often mentioned in the broader process of diffusion of law or legal acculturation . J.W. Powell is credited with coining the word acculturation , first using it in an 1880 report by the US Bureau of American Ethnography . He explained that this term ...
