A multidropbus MDB is a computer bus in which all components are connected to the same set of electrical wires. A process of arbitration determines which device gets the right to be the sender of information at any point in time. The other devices must listen for the data that is intended to be received by them. Multidrop buses have the advantage of simplicity and extensibility, but electronically are limited to around nowrap 200 400 MHz because of reflections on the wire from the printed circuit board PCB onto the integrated circuit die and nowrap 10 20 cm distance SCSI 1 has nowrap 6 metre s . ODT On die termination circuits in modern SDRAM chips are examples of facing such a problem of electrical impedance discontinuity. Fully Buffered DIMM is a totally different approach of not using the multidropbus architecture to connect multiple DRAM modules to a memory controller. Multidrop standards such as Peripheral Component Interconnect PCI are therefore being replaced by Network topology Point to point point to point systems such as PCI Express . Multidrop buses are also used by vending machine controllers to communicate with the vending machine s components, such as a currency detector coin or note reader . The purpose of the bus turnout is avoid blocking a lane of traffic and to improve passenger safety during boarding and deboarding. Bus turnouts may also be the location of minor bus terminus bus termini , and may be extended to accommodate bus stand s. Bus turnouts are most often lacking in cities with little or no usable easement right of way for their construction. In younger cities, particularly in the United States , where there is sufficient right of way bus turnouts are installed on roads either as part of upgrading the road or installed by requirement of the local government during development of the lot. A disadvantage of bus turnouts is that buses must merge back into the flow of traffic after using the bus stop, which can cause delay to the bus. Although many jurisdictions worldwide have instituted yield to bus laws, motorist compliance with these laws is often non existent. In some jurisdictions, bus turnouts can be used as an emergency turnout for the general public to prevent blocking a lane of traffic. However, should a bus attempt to enter the turnout often those using the turnout must make way.
