    Image Rowing Blade White.svg thumb 250px The blade colours of Murray Edwards College Boat Club Murray Edwards College Boat Club formerly New Hall Boat Club is the Sport rowing rowing club for members of Murray Edwards College, Cambridge , up to 2008 known as New Hall. Murray Edwards is a college for women only. New Hall s early progress was good, taking the headship of the Lent Bumps in 1976, 1978 and 1980. A run of poorer results saw the 1st VIII drop into the 2nd division for the first ever time in 2007. In the May Bumps , initial performance was good, taking the headship in 1977, 1981 and 1984 in the four oared races, but in 1990, when the start order was re organised, the New Hall 1st VIII were placed at the bottom of the 1st division and dropped into the 2nd division in 1992. By 1996, New Hall had climbed as high as 10th, but found itself in the 2nd division again by the end of 1998. Once again, the New Hall 1st VIII climbed to 10th by 2002, but fell into the 2nd division once again in 2006. History Government Murray College Sialkot was established as Scotch Mission College by Scottish people Scottish missionaries belonging to the Church of Scotland Mission in 1889. The Church of Scotland came to Sialkot then Part of British India in January 1857 when the first Scottish missionary, Reverend Thomas Hunter, came to live with his wife, Jane Scott, and baby son near the Brigade Parade Ground, facing the Trinity Church whose first stone was laid on March 1, 1852 . The church was consecrated by the Bishop of Madras on January 30, 1857. Sialkot at that time was in the diocese of Calcutta in British India. Thomas Hunter, his wife and baby son were murdered in Sialkot during the War of Independence of 1857 Indian Rebellion of 1857 . The Scottish missionaries who established Scotch Mission College were born and lived in the comparative comfort of Scotland , deeply moral and ordained to the Christian ministry, each one of them educated in one of the five ancient universities of their country. They worked largely without recompense to educate people of a town very different from theirs.
