The play, initially staged in Warsaw s Teatr Dramatyczny , was a major success in Poland. It was also the first privately funded performance to be staged in post war Poland and the first to feature a modern scenic design including an extensive use of lasers. The musical opened on Broadway theatre Broadway at the Minskoff Theatre on April 16, 1992 and closed on April 26, 1992, after 13 performances and 24 previews. The lyrics were translated by Mary Bracken Phillips and the director and choreographer was Janusz J zefowicz. Although it was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Original Score , it received mixed reviews and soon closed. The 1998 production in Moscow , Russia , proved to be a success and the musical is still occasionally staged both in Poland and in Russia. The Polish version of the musical is notable for a large number of young artists who started their career in its crew. Among those who rose to fame were Edyta G rniak , Katarzyna Groniec , Robert Janowski , Micha Milowicz and Natasza Urba ska . In 2009 Stok osa and J zefowicz started making screening of the musical. Calculus The Musical is a comic review of the concepts and history of Calculus . The musical was originally created by Matheatre, composed of Marc Gutman and Sadie Bowman. The musical used the story of the development of Calculus to tie together songs that Marc had created as mnemonics when he was a teacher. Gutman and Bowman launched the musical s tour at the Minnesota Fringe Festival in August 2006, and continued to tour the show to Fringe Festivals, High Schools, Colleges and Conferences until spring of 2008. In Autumn of 2008, Matheatre licensed the show to the Know Theatre of Cincinnati who continues the tour to this day. Current Cast Members Breona Conrad and Josh Murphy.
