  1. Tribus Circiter

Tribus Circiter is an encyclical of Pope Pius X on the Mariavites or Mystic Priests of Poland, a pseudo monastic Poland Polish society founded by Feliksa Koz owska , which later broke away from the Catholic Church to become the Mariavite Church . It was given at Rome , at St. Peter s, the fifth day of April, 1906, in the third year of his Pontificate . 1. Idola tribus

Details Baconian method Idola tribus is a Latin term, normally translated as Idols of the Tribe , coined by Sir Francis Bacon and used in his Novum Organum , one of the earliest treatises arguing the case for the logic and method of modern science . The term is one of four such idols which represent idols and false notions which are now in possession of the human understanding, and have taken deep root therein, not only so beset men s minds that truth can hardly find entrance, but even after entrance is obtained, they will again in the very instauration of the sciences meet and trouble us, unless men being forewarned of the danger fortify themselves as far as may be against their assaults . ref Novum Organum , Aphorism XXXVIII ref Besides idola tribus , there are also idola specus , Idols of the Cave, caused by one s personal peculiarities and experiences idola fori Idols of the Market Place, caused by language and idola theatri Idols of the Theatre, caused by philosophers . Quotation The Idols of the Tribe have their foundation in human nature itself, and in the tribe or race of men. For it is a false assertion that the sense of man is the measure of things. On the contrary, all perceptions as well of the sense as of the mind are according to the measure of the individual and not according to the measure of the universe. And the human understanding is like a false mirror, which, receiving rays irregularly, distorts and discolors the nature of things by mingling its own nature with it. Novum Organum , Aphorism XLI And so in this category are cases of people being misled by anthropomorphism . In more detail, Bacon enumerated several specific such barriers to science which are part of human nature, coming into this category The human understanding is of its own nature prone to suppose the existence of more order and regularity in the world than it finds. ref Novum Organum ... 1. Myron of Priene

Myron of Priene was the author of an historical account of the First Messenian War , from the taking of Ampheia to the death of Aristodemus . The dates of his work cannot be ascertained accurately, but it belongs in all probability to the Alexandrine period, not earlier than the 3rd century BCE. According to Pausanias geographer Pausanias he was an author on whose accuracy very little reliance could be placed. For example, both Diodorus and Myron placed Aristomenes in the first Messenian war, which is not universally accepted as accurate. SmithDGRBM Persondata Metadata see Wikipedia Persondata .
