It is located 8 km west of Jerusalem on the road linking it to Tel Aviv Highway 1 Israel Highway 1 . The site is mostly known as the place of the key battles of Operation Nachshon which were held there in April 1948 in which the Israeli fighters defeated the Arabs fighters during the 1948 Arab Israeli War . The national park includes a memorial for the Israeli soldiers whom died in the battles which happened there in the 1948 Arab Israeli War including a monument designed in 1980 by Yitzhak Yamin and a memorial for the armored vehicles whom tried to break through the blockade of Jerusalem during the 1948 Arab Israeli War. The Roman Empire Romans built a fortress there, known as Castellum to ensure their control of the road to Jerusalem. Later on the Crusaders built the castle Castellum Belveern on the ruins of this fortress, which still stands there today. After the fall of the Crusaders, the Castel disappeared from the historical sources for centuries. Eventually, an Arab village grew up around this spot. The muhktar s house was built on the hilltop, on the ruins of the Crusader castle. All three Nahshon Even Chaim also known as Phoenix , Electron and Nom real name David John Woodcock were convicted of a range of computer crimes involving the intrusion into US defense and government computer systems and the theft of an online computer security newsletter in the late 1980s and early 1990. Significance of case The case was notable for being the first prosecution of hackers under Australian federal computer crime legislation that had come into law in June 1989. It was also the first time in the world police had gained a conviction using evidence obtained by the remote tapping of a computer. For six weeks before the raid, members of the AFP computer crime section had been capturing the online activity of the ringleader, Phoenix, in suburban Melbourne, from the police Telephone Intercept Branch in Canberra, 650  km away.
