    for the Taiwanese school National Taiwan Normal University National Normal University was a teacher s college in Lebanon, Ohio . It opened in 1855 as Southwestern State Normal College and took the name National Normal University in 1870. Alfred Holbrook was the first president and the school s guiding force for most of its existence. He resigned in 1897 after 42 years. In 1907 the NNU changed its name again to Lebanon University. The school went bankruptcy bankrupt in 1895 and finally closed in 1917. The school merged with Wilmington College Ohio Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio . The Warren County Ohio Historical Society in Lebanon, Ohio, now holds Lebanon University s records. In 1933 Alfred Holbrook College opened on the same campus. The predecessor of the Northwest Normal University was the National Beiping Normal University , originating from the Normal College of the Capital Grand Academy founded in 1902 in Beijing . After the Marco Polo Bridge Incident of 1937, National Beijing Normal University moved westward and formed the Northwest Union University, together with National Beiping University and Beiyang Institute of Technology. The former Normal University, as a whole, became the Normal College under the Union University. In 1939, the Normal College dissociated from the Union University and became independent National Northwest Normal College . It was relocated to Lanzhou in 1941.     The Philippine Normal University Manila Philippine Normal University Quezon campus is the fourth regional campus established by the university in the municipality of Lopez, Quezon Lopez , Quezon as part of its vision of becoming the primary source of high quality teachers and education managers that can directly inspire and shape the quality of Filipino people Filipino students and graduates in the country and the world. The PNU Quezon campus started its operation in 1979 by offering teacher education courses in consortium with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Lopez Polytechnic University of the Philippines Lopez, Quezon Lopez , Quezon branch wherein the laboratory high school department of the latter became the training ground of the aspiring teachers. When the consortium agreement between the two state universities expired in 1993, PNU continued its operation in the town by transferring to Lopez National Comprehensive High School campus. Similar to the previous arrangement with PUP, PNU also used the facilities of the LNCHS until 1999. During that six year period, it gradually acquired its own site thru land donations from the municipal and provincial governments. Its new and own campus is located adjacent to the LNCHS and a few hundred meters away from PUP.
