The first of NASA NASA s three High Energy Astronomy Observatories, HEAO 1 , launched August 12, 1977 aboard an Atlas rocket with a Centaur rocket stage Centaur upper stage, operated until 9 January 1979. During that time, it scanned the X ray sky almost three times over 0.2 keV 10 MeV, provided nearly constant monitoring of X ray sources near the ecliptic poles, as well as more detailed studies of a number of objects through pointed observations. HEAO included four large X ray and gamma ray astronomy instruments, known as A1, A2, A3, and A4, respectively before launch, HEAO 1 was known as HEAO A . The Gauribidanur RadioObservatory is a radio telescope observatory located at Gauribidanur , near Bengaluru. It is operated jointly by Raman Research Institute and the Indian Institute of Astrophysics . The observatory has been in operation since 1976. Location The Gauribidanur Observatory is located at Gauribidanur Latitude 13.60 N Longitude 77.44 E , 100 km north of Bengaluru. Science and Observation The Observatory has been used for studying various aspects of the Sun, galaxies and pulsars. A few observations with the array have been the first two dimensional images of radio emission from slowly varying discrete sources in the outer solar corona , an all sky survey of radio sources at 34.5 MHz in the declination range 30 S to 60 N, and a low frequency carbon recombination lines in astrophysical sources.Studies have been also been done of gaseous remnants of exploding stars and the apparently vacant space between members of a cluster of galaxies. primarysources date December 2010 The National Obesity Observatory NOO is a publicly funded body that is part of a network of Public Health Observatories across Britain and Ireland. It publishes data, information, and intelligence related to obesity, overweight, and their underlying causes. NOO works closely with a wide range of organisations to assist policy makers and practitioners who are involved in understanding and tackling obesity at population level. It does this through analysing and interpreting research and data to produce reports and briefings. To support these activities it also produces analytical and data visualisation tools. These are used, for example, to map obesity and associated determinants at national, regional and local levels. Members of NOO were instrumental in establishing the National Child Measurement Programme NCMP . Analysis and interpretation of the NCMP dataset is a core element of NOO s work. NOO is a member of the Public health observatory Association of Public Health Observatories . The historic building in the Parque del Buen Retiro was built in 1790 as the Royal Observatory. Equipped with a Hershel telescope, it took over the purely astronomical work of the naval observatory, the Real Instituto y Observatorio de la Armada , in the south of the country. The Royal Observatory was designed by Juan de Villanueva and represents one of the highlights of Spanish neoclassical architecture . Its domed lantern was conceived as a classical circular temple. It houses historic scientific equipment and a library, which can be visited by prior arrangement.
