The Medway Navigation runs from the Leigh Barrier south of Tonbridge to Allington, Kent Allington just north of Maidstone. It is convert 19 mi km in length. The Environment Agency is the navigation authority responsible for the navigation. The route Until 1746 the river was impassable above Maidstone. To that point each village on the river had its wharf or wharves at Halling, Kent Halling , Snodland , New Hythe and Aylesford . Cargoes included corn, fodder, fruit, stone and timber. Image AllingtonLock2.JPG left thumb Allington Lock and Sluice, it is at this point that the river becomes tidal. In 1746 improvements to the channel meant that barges of convert 40 LT t could reach East Farleigh , Yalding and even Tonbridge. The channel was further improved to Leigh, Kent Leigh in 1828. There are eleven canal lock locks on the river. The lowest, opened in 1792, is at Allington, Kent Allington , and is the extent of tides. 1. Navigation mesh

Unreferenced date December 2009 A navigation mesh is an abstract data structure abstract data structure used in artificial intelligence applications to aid intelligent agent agent s in search algorithm path finding through large spaces. Meshes that do not map to static obstacles in the environment they model, offer the additional advantage that agents with access to the mesh will not consider these obstacles in path finding, reducing computational effort and making collision detection between agents and static obstacles moot. Meshes are typically implemented as graph data structure graph s, opening their use to a large number of tree search algorithm algorithms defined on these structures. RSDN in Russian stands for lang ru Radiotehnicheskaya Sistema Dal ney Navigatsii , i.e., radio technical long distance navigation system. ALPHA was used to determine positions of aircraft, ship and submarines in underwater position . This system was being developed in parallel with U.S. OMEGA Navigation System OMEGA System and also works in VLF range. ALPHA coverage is up to 10,000  km from the master station, position error of 2.5 7  km. The alpha system consists of three transmitters, which stand in the proximity of Novosibirsk , Krasnodar and Khabarovsk . Two other transmitters at Reyda and Seyda are not currently operational 2010 . These transmitters radiate signals of 0.4 second duration in a 3.6 second cycle on the frequencies 11.905  kHz, 12.649  kHz and 14.881  kHz. From the phase difference of the received signals a location can be determined. Much like the masts used for the Omega Navigation System , for technical reasons the masts of Alpha must be very tall. 1. Navigation function

Navigation function usually refers to a function of position, velocity, acceleration and time which is used to plan robot trajectories through the environment. Generally, the goal of a navigation function is to create feasible, safe paths that avoid obstacles while allowing a robot to move from its starting configuration to its goal configuration. Potential functions as navigation functions Image pf as navigation function.png thumb 350px A potential function. Imagine dropping a marble on the surface. It will avoid the three obstacles and eventually reach the goal position in the center. Potential functions assume that the environment or work space is known. Obstacles are assigned a high potential value, and the goal position is assigned a low potential. To reach the goal position, a robot only needs to follow the negative gradient of the surface.
