    The New Partnership for Africa s Development E School Programme run by NEPAD aims to provide computers and internet access to all schools in Africa within 10 years, and also to set up health points to tie in with Nepad s E Health program. The project was launched in 2003 at the African Economic Summit in Durban . The aim is to cover all high schools within 5 years of the start of implementation and all primary schools within 10 years, a total of some 600,000 schools. In June, 2005, at the World Economic Forum World Economic Forum Africa Summit in Cape Town , it was announced that the first school to benefit from the program would be Bugulumbya Secondary School in the village of Busobya , Uganda . A consortium of companies led by Hewlett Packard is to equip the school in collaboration with the Ugandan government. A demonstration project involving various private companies is planned to take place over 12 18 months in 16 countries including Algeria , Burkina Faso , Cameroon , Egypt , Gabon , Ghana , Kenya , Lesotho , Mali , Mauritius , Mozambique , Nigeria , Rwanda , Senegal , South Africa and Uganda.     The World Bank Africa Development Indicators ADI is a compilation of data, assembled by the World Bank , representing over 1,400 indicators of Economic development development in Sub Saharan Africa . Methodolgy and scope The data is updated annually from a variety of sources with datasets being available from 1960 onwards. In Egypt , a rail line between Alexandria and Cairo had been completed in 1856, three years before work began on the Suez Canal . On May 14, 1858, a train ferry rail carriage ferry on this line played a decisive role in Egyptian history. Someone overlooked the normal precaution of securing the wheels of one carriage with chains only one carriage crossed at a time , and this carriage fell into the Nile , drowning Prince Ahmed, heir apparent to the throne of Egypt. This resulted in Ahmed s brother Isma il Pasha Ismail being put on the throne. Planning Ismail saw himself as a builder. He took out huge loans and earned a lot of money from long staple cotton , the production of which had quintupled, and the price quadrupled because of the American Civil War . Among Ismail s list of projects were convert 910 mi km of new railroads, stretching convert 231 mi km southwards from Cairo to Assiut , and including the first line in the Sudan , to Khartoum . Ismail s railroad plans were to wait more than 30 years before they were realized.
