He died in Los Angeles, California , in February 1973, aged 70. Niblo, Jr. was the son of director Fred Niblo . Awards He was nominated with Seton I. Miller for an Academy Award Oscar for their screen adaptation of The Criminal Code in 1931. His wife was Pat and he had a daughter Moira and a son Dennis and a second daughter Ann. He spent some time with the state department in French Indo China Viet Nam prior to the war. He came back with photographs of atrocities against French Catholic missionaries.
