Green or Ewen Green , was a British historian famed for his work on 20th century Britain and, in particular, the history of the 20th century Conservative Party UK Conservative Party . Born in Torbay and brought up in Brixham , he was educated at Churston Ferrers Grammar School where he developed his taste for history, which he went on to study at University College London where he was awarded the Derby studentship for the best British undergraduate degree classification first of 330 candidates. In 1980 he became a graduate student at St John s College, Cambridge , working on politics in the Edwardian period, before taking up a junior research fellowship at Brasenose College, Oxford in 1986. In 1990, he went to Reading University before, in 1995, returning to Oxford as a tutor and fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford Magdalen . For University of Oxford the university , he became a Lecturer in modern history, rising to the position of Reader in 2004. His first book, The Crisis of Conservatism , focussed on the Edwardian period and appeared in 1995. His second book, Ideologies of Conservatism 2002 , disclosed the unexpected long term continuities in Conservative political thinking. His third, Thatcher 2006 , examined the party in recent decades. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999 but kept up his academic commitments for several years before taking early retirement. He died in 2006 at the age of 47. He served on two occasions as the Lieutenant Governor of Idaho 16th and 18th Lieutenant Governor of Idaho , both during the administration of Governor H. C. Baldridge . Hailey was elected in 1926 along with Baldridge. He was succeeded as the Republican nominee in 1928 by W. B. Kinne , but returned to the position in October 1929 after Kinne died in office. File Willy Burmester um 1900.jpg thumb Willy Burmester, a. 1900 Willy Burmester 16 March 1869 16 January 1933 was a German violinist. Burmester was born in Hamburg and was a pupil of Joseph Joachim , with whom he studied for many years in Berlin . In 1885, however, he seceded from the Joachim school, and commenced to develop his technique with a view to achieving virtuosity rather than a classic purity of style. He was a well developed artist, however, and his taste was broad enough to include all schools of composition in his repertoire. His was at his best, nevertheless, as an interpreter of the works of Niccol Paganini Paganini , and his rendering of the classics was said to be somewhat cold and devoid of feeling. On the continent his reputation was very high. He failed, however, to make a great impression on his first visit to England and America, though his audiences were compelled to admire his marvelous technical feats, especially his left hand pizzicato, and rapid runs in thirds and tenths. His faulty intonation, however, interfered with his success somewhat. In his later years, this defect improved very considerably, and those who heard him play at his later concerts were much impressed with his sterling musical qualities.
