Orphan date June 2009 Charles Odilon Beauchemin March 29, 1822 November, 1887 was a Montreal Printer publishing printer and Bookselling bookseller . Beauchemin studied at the S minaire de Nicolet from 1836 until his father s death in 1841. Financially unable to remain in school, he spent some time in Montreal with printer John Lovell pursuing his interest in printing and bookbinding . He formed a business with his brother in law in 1864. The firm and partnership, Beauchemin et Valois, lasted 22 years. Valois retired and the firm Librairie C. O. Beauchemin et fils was formed with Charles Odilon and his son, Joseph Odilon in partnership. The firm was successful and became more so after Charles died. Charles Odilon Beauchemin was an important figure in the growth of bookprinting in Quebec . The Ian Woodner Family Collection is a foundation that Ian Woodner established before his death in 1990. Woodner s two daughters, Dian and Andrea, oversee the Collection. Ian Woodner, a real estate developer, was one of the greatest art collectors in the United States . Besides an extraordinary group of drawings, some of which were acquired by the National Gallery of Art in Washington in 1991, he amassed a large group of Cycladic works of art. He had a passion for paintings, drawings and prints by the 19th century French artist Odilon Redon and put together the largest group of Redons in the world.
