Orphan date October 2008 Japan Society NorthWest JSNW is a non profit organization based in the northwest of England . Its objective is the promotion of Japanese Culture . History JSNW grew out of the UK Japan Society of the NorthWest, which was founded in 1996 to provide a focus for local companies with business interests in Japan. This organisation was eventually dissolved, and many of its members then got together to form Japan Society NorthWest in May 2004. Japan Society NorthWest organised a Japan Day in 2006, at Manchester Town Hall . North 1 West is an English Rugby Union League at the sixth tier of the domestic competition. North 1 West is made up of teams from around the northwest of England who play home and away matches throughout a winter season. Occasionally, depending on promotion and relegation to from National League 3 North , from North 1 East and North 1 West, teams from either of those leagues may be required to compete in the opposite league for one season to ensure that the number of teams in the East and West leagues remain at 12 teams each. The NorthWest Universities Association is a representative body in the NorthWest of England , intended to advance the development of the twelve higher education establishments. Role The primary aim of the NWUA is to act as an organisation through which the universities of the NorthWest can identify common goals, and thus move forward together through collaborative action, thereby maximising their contribution to the social, economic and cultural life of the NorthWest of England and managing to develop partnerships with business, industry and public bodies in this process. A more general aim of the NWUA is to attempt to foster better overall relations between the institutions of the NorthWest, and establish a lasting relationship. NWUA also runs the Leonardo da Vinci programme, the European Commission s vocational training programme which aims to facilitate student and staff mobility throughout Europe. The programme provides funding for students to undertake a work placement related to their academic study in another European country and for staff to visit European institutions and companies to exchange knowledge and develop vocational training. The NWUA is affiliated with the UK Government, the NorthWest Regional Assembly , the NorthWest Regional Development Agency , the Chamber of Commerce , Confederation of British Industry CBI , the NorthWest Science Council , and other organisations, who assist in promoting the collective ambitions of the establishments.
