Most recently, a graphics card tab has been added. It has an unusual ability to directly detect hardware features, such as the ability to access, read, and display the Serial Presence Detect SPD data from memory modules. The ability to document clock speed makes it an important tool for motherboard overclockers , as a way of proving the CPU speeds achieved by various experiments. clear See also CPUID Overclocking Benchmark computing GPU Z External links Official website http www.cpuid.com softwares cpu z.html http download.cnet.com CPU Z 3000 2086 4 10050423.html CNET Editors review December 2009 http www.softpedia.com reviews windows Cpu Z Review 38137.shtml Softpedia review October 2006 http www.benchmarkhq.ru cpuz e.html BenchmarkHQ review 2001 Category Windows only freeware Category Portable software Category Windows software Category System administration Category 2001 software Windows software stub bg CPU Z cs CPU Z de CPU Z es ... more details

A digital Artifact error artifact is any undesired alteration in data introduced in a digital process by an involved technique and or technology. Possible causes Hardware malfunction In computer graphics, visual artifact s may be generated whenever a hardware component such as the processor, memory chip, cabling malfunctions, etc. causing data corruption. Malfunction may be caused by physical damage, overheating, insufficient voltage sometimes due to GPU overclocking , etc. Common types of hardware artifacts are Texture mapping texture corruption and T vertices in 3D graphics, and pixelization in MPEG compressed video. Software malfunction Similarly to hardware malfunction, artifacts may be caused by software issues such as bugs in the algorithms, such as decoding encoding introducing artifacts into audio or video, or a poor pseudo random number generator would introduce artifacts into statistical research models. Compression artifact Compression Controlled amounts of unwanted information may be generated as a result of the use of lossy compression techniques. One of such cases are the artifacts seen in JPEG and MPEG compression algorithms. Aliasing Digital imprecision generated in the process of converting analog information into digital space due to the limited granularity of digital numbering space. In computer graphics, aliasing is seen as pixelation . Rolling shutter , the line scanning of an object which is moving too fast for the CMOS camera to capture a unitary image. - CPU shim
Unreferenced date April 2008 Image Shim.png right thumb Illustrative image of a shim. A CPU shim also called CPU spacer is a shim engineering shim used between the Central processing unit CPU and the heat sink in a computer. Shims make it easier and less risky to mount a heatsink on the processor because it stabilizes the heatsink, preventing accidental damaging of the fragile CPU packaging. They help distribute weight evenly over the surface. CPU shims are usually made of thin and very flat aluminium or copper . Copper has good heat dissipation capacity but is Electrical conductivity electrically conductive . CPU shims should be non conductive to prevent any accidental short circuit ing. Aluminium shims are often Anodizing anodized , which makes them non conductive and improves their appearance see case modding . It is also very important that the shim is the proper thickness. If it is too thick then the heatsink will not make contact with the CPU, resulting in poor cooling and possibly overheating. Most shims are CNC manufactured, often using laser cutting . Cheaper ones may be pressed or stamped which could make them less accurate. They can usually be bought for less than United States dollar USD 10. Usage CPU shims are not common at all in Original equipment manufacturer OEM computers, but are used by some computer hardware enthusiasts who may use heavier heatsinks because they wish to have a cooler or less noisy system or perhaps to overclocking overclock the CPU for better performance. A heavy heatsink puts more pressure on the CPU and motherboard. Shims are very useful for people who often change CPU, heatsink and or Computer cooling cooling solutions , or use a heatsink that is heavier than the CPU manufacturer s recommended weight. CPU shims are nowadays largely obsolete because most modern processors designed for home users since the introduction of the Athlon 64 and Pentium 4 have Integrated Heat Spreaders IHS which prevents the CPU core from getting acci ... more details

- H2Ceramic cooling
DISPLAYTITLE H sub 2 sub Ceramic cooling H sub 2 sub Ceramic cooling also called H sub 2 sub C or Hot to Cold is a computer cooling product offered as an option in Dell s XPS gaming systems, advertised specifically as facilitating Cpu CPU overclocking . H sub 2 sub C is a two stage Liquid TEC hybrid cooling system that combines a liquid to air heat exchanger much like a liquid radiator , a Thermoelectric cooling thermoelectric fluid chiller , and control circuitry to optimize CPU cooling with minimal power. According to Dell, the cooling efficiency of H sub 2 sub C contributes to PC systems that are cooler in over clocked mode and potentially quieter in normal operating mode. By cooling the CPU below what is possible with traditional forced air convection or water cooling systems, but preventing the temperature from falling below ambient room temperature , H sub 2 sub C is advertised as extending CPU life while eliminating the risk of humidity condensation . - Stepping level
unreferenced date April 2012 The term stepping level in the context of CPU architecture or integrated circuitry is a version number. Stepping level refers to the introduction or revision of the lithographic mask or masks within the set of plates that generate the pattern that produces the CPU or integrated circuit. The term derives from the name of the equipment Stepper steppers that exposes the photoresist to light. ref name JumpingJack cite web url http www.tomshardware.com forum 235792 28 what stepping author JumpingJack publisher Tom s Hardware accessdate 30 Jul 2008 title What is CPU Stepping? 404 date April 2012 ref Typically, when an integrated circuit manufacturer such as Intel or AMD invests money to do a stepping i.e. a revision to the masks , they have found bugs in the logic, have made improvements to the design that allow for faster processing, or have found a way to increase yield or improve the bin splits i.e. create faster transistors and hence faster CPUs . One result of some new steppings is that the CPU design is improved such that it Overclocking overclocks better than others. ref name JumpingJack Many CPUs have a means of interrogating them in order to discover their stepping level. For example, on x86 CPUs executing the CPUID with the EAX register set to 1 will place values in other registers that show the CPU s stepping level.
