The PRQ was founded on November, 1962 by Marcel Chaput , who was also one of the founders of the Rassemblement pour l ind pendance nationale in 1960. At the time, the RIN was not a political party, only a political movement, and the executive had refused to run candidates in elections. Politics of Canada The Parti rouge alternatively known as the Parti d mocratique was formed in the Province of Quebec, around 1848 by radical French Canadian s inspired by the ideas of Louis Joseph Papineau , the Institut canadien de Montr al , and the reformist movement led by the Parti patriote of the 1830s. The party was a successor to the Parti patriote . The reformist rouges did not believe that the 1840 Act of Union 1840 Act of Union had truly granted a responsible government to former Upper and Lower Canada.
