They first appeared in Super Pocket Pilote , a quarterly, digest sized offshoot of the comic book magazine Pilote , between 1969 and 1970. Outline These seven short Val rian stories were unobtainable for many years. Initially published during the 1970s in Super Pocket Pilote in digest size , they constituted a sort of laboratory of ideas and forms where Pierre Christin and Jean Claude M zi res tried out plots, created characters, invented flora and fauna and juggled with the paradoxes of space time. Across the Pathways of Space combines humour and spontaneity, invention unleashed and rigorous logic, thus preceding much of what would become the saga of Val rian and Laureline, discoverers of distinction and voyagers of infinity. Unavailable for more than 15 years, these seven adventures were finally published together in 1997.
