Patrick Francis Carr was an early Irish people Irish immigrant to the United States as well as the fifth and final victim of the Boston Massacre . He was buried on March 17, 1770, two weeks after the aforementioned event occurred, in the Granary Burying Ground , one of Boston s oldest burial grounds. Carr s role in the Boston Massacre is relatively minor. He was not involved in the events which precipitated the British soldiers firing on the crowd. However, his deathbed account of the event is regarded as the most important piece of evidence exonerating the eight defendants of murder charges. Patrick Eugene Carr October 2, 1922 &ndash June 1, 1998 was a United States federal judge . Born in Jasper County, Mississippi , Carr was in the United States Army Air Corps Sergeant during World War II , from 1940 to 1945. He received an LL.B. from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law in 1950 and was thereafter in private practice in Metairie, Louisiana from 1950 to 1975. He was a judge on the Division, 24th Judicial District Court of the Parish of Jefferson, Louisiana from 1975 to 1979. On June 14, 1979, Carr was nominated by President Jimmy Carter to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana created by 92 Stat. 1629. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on September 25, 1979, and received his commission on September 26, 1979. He assumed senior status on October 1, 1991, serving in that capacity until his death, in 1998, in New Orleans, Louisiana .
