Born and educated in New Zealand , Judith Mayhew graduated LLM from the University of Otago , where she lectured before moving to the UK as a lecturer in law at King s College London where she set up and became Director of the Anglo French Law Degree Sorbonne , the first joint degree in Europe. In 1989, Judith entered private practice as an employment lawyer, rising to become Special Adviser to the Chairman at Clifford Chance , the world s largest law firm, before resigning to concentrate on her other roles. In 2006 she was appointed to the Board of Directors of Merrill Lynch . She served as Provost of King s College, Cambridge from 2003 2005. She has also been closely involved in the running of the City of London since 1986. She was awarded the Order of the British Empire DBE in 2002 for services to the City of London . She was the first woman to become not only Chairman of the Royal Opera House , but also from 1996 2003, as Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee, she was effectively leader of the City of London Corporation . According to the United States Geological Survey , a variant name is Mayhew Station . Mayhew Station was the original name given to this community when it was moved from its original site near Muldrow, Mississippi to alongside the tracks of the newly built Mobile and Ohio Railroad later Gulf, Mobile & Ohio in the very early 1850s. The original location of the town of Mayhew is now referred to as Old Mayhew, but only a cemetery exists there today. Mayhew held the distinction for most of the 20th century as being home to Stover Apiaries, the world s largest queen bee apiary, which shipped queen bees to beekeepers worldwide. Early career Mayhew s broadcasting career began at BBC Radio Devon & BBC Radio Kent , presenting and producing a wide range of programmes. She was one of the original presenters on Jazz FM when it started in 1990, where she devised & presented the Dinner Jazz programme, broadcast on weekday evenings from 7 9 pm. Also at Jazz FM, she presented & produced many other programmes including blues, jazz dance music, new releases, and Latin music. BBC Mayhew joined BBC Radio 2 in July 2004, presenting the Monday evening Big Band Special , Mondays 10 10.30 pm featuring the BBC Big Band . In September 2004, she took over her own weekly show, which she described as A chill out zone with a difference featuring music perfect for dreaming away the small hours. This aired every Saturday night Sunday morning from 1 4 am. Mayhew also occasionally presented the Jazz Line Up programme on BBC Radio 3 , on Saturdays from 4 5 pm. theJazz and Classic FM Her roles on Radio 2 ended in April 2006, and made her final appearance on Radio 3 in February 2007 . On 10 July 1583, he entered with his elder brother Henry, the English College at Reims , where he displayed conspicuous talents, and received the tonsure and minor orders on 22 August 1590. Moving to Rome, he there continued his studies until his ordination, after which he left for the English mission in 1595. Having served for twelve years on the mission as a secular priest, he joined the Benedictine Order. He was professed by Dom Sigelbert Buckley , the sole survivor of the English congregation, in his cell at the Gatehouse prison , Westminster , on 21 November 1607, with Robert Sadler. Under these two new members the English congregation began to revive. Becoming affiliated with the Spanish congregation in 1612, it was given an equal share in St. Lawrence s monastery at Dieulwart , Lorraine region Lorraine , henceforth the centre of the English congregation.
