Pehr L fling 31 January 1729 22 February 1756 was a Sweden Swedish botanist and an Apostles of Linnaeus apostle of Carl Linnaeus . Biography L fling was born in Tolvfors Bruk , G vle , Sweden. He studied at the University of Uppsala where he attended courses taught by Carolus Linnaeus . When the Spanish ambassador asked Linnaeus to select a botanist for service in the American colonies, the professor at once named Loefling. He went to Spain in 1751 to learn Spanish, and then embarked with other scientists for South America in February 1754. He had entire charge of the department of natural history, and was assisted by two young Spanish doctors. He died in San Antonio de Caron Ciudad Guayana Guayana , Venezuela . His death was considered a great loss to natural history, and especially to botany. Linn us believed the loss irreparable. The manuscripts of Loefling, which were found after his death, were preserved by his two assistants. Legacy Linn us used the name Loeflingia for the genus of some plants in the Caryophyllaceae family, one species of which grows in Spain and the other in Spanish America. Wargentin was the son of the vicar of Sunne Wilhelm Wargentin 1670 1735 and his spouse Christina Aroselia, and the great grandson of Joachim Wargentin 1611 1682 , a L beck born Bourgeoisie burgher of Turku bo Turku in Finland. When Pehr Wargentin was 12 years old he observed a total lunar eclipse which would spark his life long interest in Astronomy . During his tenure at Fr s n Fr s trivialskola elementary school , his teacher deemed him advanced enough to continue directly to Uppsala University . However, Wargentin s father wanted him first to attend the gymnasium secondary school of H rn sand , which he did. According to his own account, Wargentin was unimpressed with the purely classical and theological curriculum and the lack of any education in the sciences and did not finish the fourth year. In 1735, Wargentin matriculated as a student at the Uppsala University University of Uppsala , where he excelled. Through his mother, he was a great great grandson of the famous Swedish scientist Olof Rudbeck 1630 1702 , discoverer of the human lymphatic system. Life Pehr Henrik Nordgren received composition lessons starting from 1958 in Helsinki and studied musicology at the university from 1962 to 1967, as well as receiving private tuition from Joonas Kokkonen from 1965 to 1969. At the Tokyo University of the Arts , he supplemented his composition studies from 1970 to 1973 with Yoshio Hasegawa and became acquainted with traditional Japanese music , which soon became an influence in his works.
