Along with permotipulidae a Permotipula and Permila, Willmann, 1989 and the robinjohniidae a Robinjohnia, Scherbakov ET to., 1995 , the somewhat more distantly related permotanyderidaea forms a group of mecoptera mecopteroids of the Late Permian of Australia and Eurasia 250 260 Ma that represents the older close relatives of the Diptera true flies . The first two genera had separate wings presumably the front , while the last two have been created from complete specimens The robinjohniidaea had four wings of about the same size, while the hind wings of the Choristotanyderus nanus Permotanyderidae specimens had a size of about half of the front, and the mesothorax was great. In all these genera the wing venation was low compared with other mecopteroids and close to the hypothetical original venation of the Diptera Hennig, 1973 Willmann, 1989 . ref http books.google.es books?id Ql6Jl6wKb88C&pg PA497&dq 22choristotanyderus 22 David Grimaldi, Michael S. The Paratrichoptera of the Upper Permian probably, and those of the Triassic certainly, have been considered survivors of the maternal group. Riek described in 1953 two species of protodipteran of the Upper Permian of Australia Permotanyderus ableptus and Choristotanyderus nanus joining Permotipula patricia named by Tillyard in 1929, but these cannot be attributed to any of the sub groups of the dipterans or their direct predecessors. ref http books.google.es books?id 5 sUAAAAIAAJ&pg PA97&lpg PA97&dq 22choristotanyderus nanus 22&source bl&ots 6axaumyjxI&sig oFfiDNcN FO4NTQ IAogqzGWm0&hl es&ei 6TFGSvu J6XKjAfV0Y3QAQ&sa X&oi book result&ct result&resnum 10 S.C.
