  1. Mahamudra (Hatha Yoga)

Mahamudra is a hatha yoga gesture mudra whose purpose is to improve control over the sexual potential. The sexual potential, associated with Prana The Five Pr as apana , is essential in the process of awakening of the dormant spiritual energy Kundalini and attaining of spiritual powers siddhi . Execution Pressure is exerted with the heel on the perineum . This zone is considered to be closely involved in the control of the vital and sexual potential. At the same time, the throat is compressed Jalandhara Bandha activating the throat chakra Vishuddha Chakra center of the akasha akashic energies of void. Effect By activating the energies of akasha and simultaneously stimulating the energies of Muladhara Chakra , Kundalini awakens and raises through the central channel, Nadi yoga Sushumna Nadi . The void is considered to be a substrate, an intermediary state in any transformation. Here it projects the lower energies up the spine, transforming them in spiritual energies instead. Thus Mahamudra is a gesture of alchemical transformation and elevation of the sexual potential, and at the same time a method of awakening of the supreme energy of the body, Kundalini . Traditional Definition quotation Pressing the Yoni perineum with the heel of the left foot, and stretching forth the right foot, its toes should be grasped by the thumb and first finger. By stopping the throat by Jalandhara Bandha the air is drawn in from outside and carried down. Just as a snake struck with a stick becomes straight like a stick, in the same way, sakti Sushumna becomes straight at once. Then the Kundalini , becoming, as it were, dead, and leaving both the Nadi yoga Ida and the Pingala , enters the Sushumna the middle passage . It should be expelled then, slowly only and not violently. For this very reason, the best of wise men call it the Mahamudra. This Mahamudra has been propounded by great masters. Great evils and pains, like death, are destroyed by it, and for this reason wise men call it the ...   more details

  1. Sananda samadhi

Sananda samadhi , also known as supreme bliss , or with ecstasy , is the third level of the four samadhis described in the Yoga sutra Yoga Sutra 1 17 by Patanjali . Sananda sa means with , ananda means joy, bliss. Historical descriptions In Sutra 1 17 Patanjali tells us that samprajnata samadhi comprises four stages Complete high consciousness samprajnata samadhi is that which is accompanied by vitarka reasoning , vicara reflection , sananda ecstasy , and sasmita a sense of I ness . Sananda is free from vitarka and vicara. This is joyous samadhi and it gives intense joy. In sananda the gross and the five elements are given up. There arises in the Yogi a peculiar perception in the form of intense joy. In this state the mind continues to function, but knowledge of any particular object slowly fades away and the yogi becomes aware of the inner consciousness only. He experiences supreme bliss. In sananda samadhi the yogi experiences a state of rapture or ecstasy, and the only thought in the mind is the wordless awareness of the feeling of I am in pleasure, I am happy. Modern descriptions According to Dr. Sarasvati Buhrman PhD, Mahavatar Babaji Babaji once explained that when people feel blissful sensations during sadhana , on a gross level the breath is equal in both nostrils, and on the subtle level prana pranic flow in ida and pingala nadis is balanced. This is called the sushumna breath because the residual prana of the sushuma, the kundalini , flows in sushumna nadi, causing sattva guna to dominate. It creates a feeling of peace. That peace is ananda. In sananda samadhi the experience of that ananda, that sattvic flow, is untainted by any other vritti s, or thoughts, save the awareness of the pleasure of receiving that bliss. ref cite book url http www.cit sakti.com kundalini experiences of meditation2.htm title Experiences of Meditation II author Sarasvati Buhrman, Ph.D publisher Cit Sakti ISBN 1579510388 date January 2000 ref According to John C.
