The area also features the Point San Pablo Yacht Harbor marina and a Sportsman s Club. The village is also the starting point for visitors to the East Brother Light Station , a small B&B inn and a designated California historic landmark. In addition to the approximately 3,500 San Francisco municipal employees, the University of California at San Francisco provides approximately 1,500 employees including Physicians, nurses and ancillary personnel . The hospital, especially its Ward 86, was instrumental in treating and identifying early cases of AIDS . The original brick main building was replaced with a concrete one in the 1972 Fact date February 2007 four remaining five story edifices are among the tallest brick buildings in the city. The hospital is located on Potrero Avenue between the Mission District and Potrero Hill U.S. Route 101 rounds its east side at Hospital Curve. Because it is the only Level I Trauma Center in the area, the hospital maintains a very high patient volume and is usually on a constant Total Divert status, which means that incoming emergency patients with the exception of trauma, psychiatric, pediatrics, and OBGYN are diverted to other nearby hospitals. Most of the area of South San Gabriel which had been called Wilmar was annexed by Rosemead, but one section of it lying north of the San Bernardino Freeway between New Avenue and San Gabriel Boulevard was annexed by the city of San Gabriel, California San Gabriel . The main streets of Wilmar were Del Mar Avenue, Graves Avenue, Hellman Avenue, Ramona Boulevard, and Garvey Avenue. It was the site of a Los Angeles County branch library, and of three schools of the Garvey School District . The area of Wilmar known as Potrero Heights, south of the intersection of Del Mar and Graves Avenues, came to be known in the 1950s as Garvey Hills. This area was first home of the Wilmar gang, members were identified by their tattoo of the name Wilmar and a picture of a donkey. The village is located in a ravine on at the northern tip of the Potrero Hills Richmond, California Potrero Hills and alongside a small cove the opens to San Pablo Bay , where the marina is protected from waves, in addition to a breakwater. The village is also the starting point for visitors to East Brother Light Station a historic landmark.
