The wedding dress of Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia is the wedding dress of Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia who married Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn at St. George s Chapel, Windsor Castle St. George s Chapel , Windsor Castle Windsor on 13 March 1879. Prince Arthur was the seventh child and third son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe Coburg and Gotha . The bride wore a heavy white satin dress, a band of lace ten centimeters long encircling the waist. The skirt was sewn with lace 30 centimeters wide and decorated with a bunch of myrtle leaves, the emblem in Germany of the bridal state. The train was four meters long and surmounted by a lace flounce one meter in width made in Silesia , in which a sprig of myrtle was fixed. The bridal veil was about three meters square, made of point d Alen on lace, the design representing orange blossoms, roses, and myrtle leaves intertwined. The veil was fastened to her hair with five diamond stars, the gift of the bridegroom. The handkerchief was made of the same material as the veil and showed the same design, one corner being embellished with the princess s monogram, the other with a Prussian eagle. The Princess carried a bouquet of white flowers. Not to be confused with the singer Wilhelmine Schr der Devrient . Wilhelmine Schr der was a Swedish telegraph ist, writer, and journalist , and was also the confidant and royal mistress of King Charles XV of Sweden . Wilhelmine Schr der was the daughter of a ruined land owner. She met Charles when she met him in an audience regarding a murder attempt of her father, who died a couple of years after the attempt. Charles fell in love with her and courted her for several years until 1869, when she agreed to a relationship on the condition that she remain financially independent and retain her job at the telegraph office in H llestad rather than being kept by him. She moved to Stockholm when she tired of travelling between the cities, but took the same job in the capital, still refusing to be supported by Charles. Charles did, however, give her an apartment at Drottninggatan 72. She is described as having been independent, serious, and practical, though she had a great interest in the supernatural and in spiritualism . Charles was fascinated by her interests, discussed existential issues with her, and called her a priestess of pure and holy love , with whom he sought forgiveness for his sins . Their relationship lasted until Charles s death in 1872. Charles left his Oscar II of Sweden brother , who succeeded him, with instructions that Schr der should be financially provided for after his death, but she continued to insist on her economic independence.
