Protocoloverhead refers to metadata and network routing information sent by an computer application application , which uses a portion of the available Bandwidth computing bandwidth of a communications protocol . This extra data, making up the protocol headers and application specific information is referred to as overhead, since it does not contribute to the content of the message. Protocoloverhead can be expressed as a percentage of non application byte s protocol and frame synchronization divided by the total number of bytes in the message. Overhead information is digital information transferred across the functional user interface interface between a user telecommunications user and a telecommunications system , or between functional units within a telecommunications system, for the purpose of directing or controlling the transfer of user information or the detection and correction of errors. Overhead information originated by the user is not considered to be system overhead information. An overhead join is a conventional method for an aircraft to approach and safely land at an airfield. It helps a pilot to integrate with any air traffic pattern near an airfield , join any circuit airfield circuit , and land. Aircraft may arrive at the landing site from any direction, so a safe means of integrating into existing traffic and aligning with the runway is required. The overhead join is the standard method used in the UK , South Africa and other Commonwealth of Nations Commonwealth countries at smaller airports by general aviation aircraft flying under the Visual Flight Rules , and especially at airfields with no regular radio service. Prior to arrival, the pilot might talk with air traffic control over the radio to establish the runway in use, the circuit height and direction left or right hand , and the Atmospheric pressure Mean sea level pressure QFE atmospheric pressure of the field. If the airfield is not equipped with ATC or radio, the pilot will establish these things before arrival by contacting the airfield prior to departure, or by using weather forecasts and the like. This information is verified on arrival by overflying the airfield and looking out for the wind direction indications from a wind sock, smoke from fires, etc., or any ground signals in the signals square if present . This involves positioning the aircraft so that it is flying across the direction of the runway and typically at 1000 feet above the circuit pattern for the airfield. The pilot crosses the runway from the normal circuit for that runway, looking out for other traffic in the circuit, and descends to circuit height often 1000 feet AGL for heavier GA aircraft or 500 600 feet for light ... or between other traffic in order to land in turn. The press , overhead press or shoulder press is a weight training exercise in which a weight is pressed from the shoulders until it is locked out overhead. The lift is performed standing. Movement The press is set up by taking a barbell and putting it on the anterior deltoids . This can be done by taking the barbell from a rack or by cleaning the weight from the floor clean and press . Alternatively the movement can be performed with dumbbells, though they do not rest neatly on the deltoids. They do not have easily accessible high racks so the trainee needs to clean them or have a spotter assist them in getting them into the starting position. The press involves moving a barbell or dumbbells from the shoulder height and pushing it up above the head until the elbows are fully locked out. As the bar clears the head, the lifter leans forward slightly in order to keep balance. As the bar is lowered back to the shoulders and clears the head again, he leans slightly back. The press is a highly effective compound upper body exercise. Performing it standing recruits many more muscle groups in order to maintain balance and support the lift, rather than performing it seated. Like the squat and dead lift , it can be thought of as a whole body exercise, to some extent. Variations Other variations of the overhead press are Military press Heels together with strict form. It is called the Military Press because this movement used to be the general indicator or test of one s strength in the military. one source date December 2010 Consistent Overhead Byte Stuffing COBS is an algorithm for encoding data bytes that results in efficient, reliable, unambiguous Packet information technology Packet framing packet framing regardless of packet content, thus making it easy for receiving applications to recover from malformed packets. Byte stuffing is a process that transforms a sequence of data bytes that may contain illegal or reserved values into a potentially longer sequence that contains no occurrences of those values. The extra length of the transformed sequence is typically referred to as the overhead of the algorithm. The COBS algorithm tightly bounds the worst case overhead, limiting it to no more than one byte in 254.
