  1. Provider-independent address space

A provider independent address space is a block of IP address es assigned by a regional Internet registry RIR directly to an end user organization. ref http www.ripe.net info faq rs isp.html 5 RIPE FAQs ref The user must contract with an Internet service provider to obtain routing of the address block within the Internet . Provider independent addresses offer end users the opportunity to change service providers without renumbering of their networks and to use multiple access providers in a multi homed configuration. However, provider independent blocks may increase the burden on global routers, as the opportunity for efficient route aggregation through Classless Inter Domain Routing CIDR may not exist. In computer science , a partitioned global address space PGAS is a parallel programming model . It assumes a global memory address space that is logically partitioned and a portion of it is local to each processor. 1. Sideways address space

The Sideways address space on the Acorn Computers Acorn BBC Micro BBC Microcomputer and BBC Master Master series microcomputer was Acorn s bank switching implementation, providing for permanent system expansion in the days before hard disk drive s or even floppy disk drive s were commonplace. File system Filing systems , application and utility software and drivers were made available as Sideways Read only memory ROM s, and extra RAM could be fitted via the Sideways address space. The Advanced User Guide to the BBC Micro only refers to the Sideways address space as Paged ROMs because it predated the use of this address space for RAM expansion. The BBC B , B 128 and BBC Master all featured Sideways RAM as standard. Sideways address space Main BBC Micro The BBC Micro and Master series machines used the 8 bit MOS Technology 6502 6502 and 65C102 CPU processors with a 16 bit address space. The address space was split into 32 KiB RAM 0x0000 to 0x7FFF , 16 KiB Sideways address space 0x8000 to 0xBFFF and 16 KiB operating system space 0xC000 to 0xFFFF . The Sideways address space is a bank switched referred to by Acorn as paged address space that allows access to one 16 KiB bank at a time. Each bank can be ROM or RAM. On both the BBC Micro and the BBC Master, there are ROM sockets on the motherboard four on the BBC Micro which take Sideways ROMs . The BBC Micro shipped with a single ROM, containing BBC BASIC . Further ROMs can be added to the computer to add software that will remain available at all times this permitted the addition of new filing systems to the OS such as the Disc Filing System and application and utility software. Here is the posted blurb I wish that I could be more specific about what happened. It s a long story and it doesn t matter anyhow. What matters is that the old makes way for the new. We are all still doing music in some capacity, some of us are together and some of us aren t. Bands break up, relationships change, music takes us other places. multiple issues cleanup March 2010 confusing March 2010 unreferenced March 2010 Identity Provider IdP also known as Identity Assertion Provider is an authentication module which verifies an Security token , as an alternative to explicitly authorizing a user within a security realm. In perimeter authentication, a user needs to authorized and authenticated only once Single sign on and pass along an Security token which is processed by an Identity Assertion Provider for each system it needs to access. Normally an Identity Assertion Provider should support most security token types, such as Security Assertion Markup Language SAML , SPNEGO , X.509 . Service Provider vs. Identity Provider Provider is a generic way of referring to both IdP s Identity Providers and SP s Service Providers . There are overlaps when it comes to defining Identity providers vs. Service Providers. According to the OASIS organization that created SAML , an Identity provider is defined as A kind of provider that creates, maintains, and manages identity information for principals and provides principal authentication to other service providers within a federation, such as with web browser profiles. p A Service provider is A role donned by a system entity where the system entity provides services to principals or other system entities and a Federation is An association comprising any number of service providers and identity providers. p In simple terms and as they relate to Identity management , an Identity provider can be described as a Service Provider for storing identity profiles and offering incentives to other SP s with the aim of Federated identity federating user identities . It should be noted however that Identity Providers can also provide services beyond those related to the storage of identity profiles. ref Cite web url http www.thedotnetfactory.com learningcenter technologies service identity ... 1. Provider model

The provider model is a design pattern formulated by Microsoft for use in the ASP.NET Starter Kits and formalized in .NET version 2.0. It is used to allow an application to choose from one of multiple implementations or condiments in the application configuration, for example, to provide access to different data stores to retrieve login information, or to use different storage methodologies such as a database, binary to disk, XML, etc. The .NET extensible provider model allows a component to have multiple implementations using an abstract factory pattern approach. Providers are a subclass of the ProviderBase class and typically instantiated using a factory method pattern factory method . The provider model in ASP.NET 2.0 provides extensibility points for developers to plug their own implementation of a feature into the runtime. Both the membership and role features in ASP.NET 2.0 follow the provider pattern by specifying an interface, or contract. The provider model begins with the abstract class ProviderBase. ProviderBase exists to enforce the contract that all providers need public Name and Description properties, as well as a public Initialize method. Inheriting from ProviderBase are the MembershipProvider and RoleProvider abstract classes. These classes add additional properties and methods to define the interface for their specific areas of functionality. Use by central processing unit In a computer with virtual memory , the term physical address is used mostly to differentiate from a virtual address space virtual address . In particular, in computers utilizing memory management unit MMU to translate memory addresses, the virtual and physical addresses refer to an address before and after MMU translation respectively. Unaligned addressing Depending upon its underlying computer architecture , the performance of a computer may be hindered by unaligned access to memory. As an example, a 16  bit computer with a 16  bit memory data bus such as an Intel 8086 generally has less computational overhead overhead if the access is aligned to an even address. In that case fetching one 16  bit value requires a single memory read operation, a single transfer over a data bus. Obviously, if the 16  bit data value starts at an odd address, the processor may actually need to perform two memory read cycles to load the value into it, i.e. one for the low address throwing half of it away and then a second to load the high address again ... The direct memory access feature allows other devices in the mother board but CPU to address the main ...   more details

  1. Address bus

Unreferenced date June 2009 An address bus is a computer bus a series of lines connecting two or more devices that is used to specify a physical address . When a central processing unit processor or direct memory access DMA enabled device needs to read or write to a memory location, it specifies that memory location on the address bus the value to be read or written is sent on the data bus . The width of the address bus determines the amount of memory a system can address. For example, a system with a 32 bit address bus can address 2 sup 32 sup 4,294,967,296 memory locations. If each memory address holds one byte, the addressable memory space is 4 GB. Implementation Early processors used a wire for each bit of the address width. For example, a 16 bit address bus had 16 physical wires making up the bus. As the buses became wider, this approach became expensive in terms of the number of chip pins and board traces. Beginning with the Mostek 4096 DRAM, multiplexed addressing became common. In a multiplexed address scheme, the address is sent in two equal parts. This halves the number of address bus signals required to connect to the memory. For example a 32 bit address bus can be implemented by using 16 wires and sending the first half of the memory address, immediately followed by the second half. Interesting examples Accessing an individual byte frequently requires reading or writing the full bus width a Word data type word at once. In these instances the least significant bits of the address bus may not even be implemented it is instead the responsibility of the controlling device to isolate the individual byte required from the complete word transmitted. This is the case, for instance, with the VESA Local Bus which lacks the two least significant bits, limiting this bus ... which were only able to address words.
