Inquiry education sometimes known as the inquiry method is a student centered method of education focused on asking questions. Students are encouraged to ask questions which are meaningful to them, and which do not necessarily have easy answers teachers are encouraged to avoid giving answers when this is possible, and in any case to avoid giving direct answers in favor of asking more questions. The method was advocated by Neil Postman and Charles Weingartner in their book Teaching as a Subversive Activity . Unreferenced date December 2009 Inquiry Magazine was a Libertarianism libertarian magazine published from November 1977 to 1984. It was originally published by the Cato Institute , but in February 1982 was transferred to the Libertarian Review Libertarian Review Foundation , after the Libertarian Review was merged into Inquiry in January of that year. The magazine originally was published semi monthly , with about 20 issues per year in its first four and a half years of publication November 1977 thru April 82 , and each issue about 32 pages long. With the May 82 issue, Inquiry was retitled Inquiry A Libertarian Review and went monthly, with each issue at least 48 pages long. In 1984, it went to 10 issues a year, with 2 double issues . It was edited first by Williamson Evers , then by Glenn Garvin , and finally by Doug Bandow . At different points in its history, its editorial staffers included Mark Paul , Jonathan Marshall , and Jack Shafer . The Inquiry into Pediatric Forensic Pathology in Ontario , commonly known as the Goudge Inquiry , was created to address serious concerns over the way criminally suspicious deaths involving children are handled by the Province of Ontario in Canada . By 2005, the existence of serious and disturbing errors in several Criminal procedure criminal investigations into suspicious deaths involving children had been confirmed. While there appeared to be significant problems in the entire system, the majority of cases being re investigated involved those for which Charles Randal Smith , of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto , had provided his expert opinion. In response to a shockingly large number of Miscarriage of justice wrongful convictions for murder , sexual assault , and infanticide , to name but a few , the provincial government directed that an inquiry be held to determine the state of the Forensic Pathology system in Ontario. The goal of this inquiry was to come up with suggestions to improve the system, which the province was capable of implementing, in order to ensure that these errors would not be repeated. Justice Stephen T. Goudge was named as commissioner. He heard evidence from November of 2007 through the early months of 2008. His report was released on October 1, 2008. The Southwell inquiry was an inquiry performed by AJ Southwell, a former Australian judge, into allegations of Sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic archdiocese of Melbourne sexual abuse in Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne by a 53 year old man who could not be named who alleged that he was sexually abused in 1961 at a Roman Catholic youth camp when he was 12 years old by George Pell , who at that time was a Seminary seminarian and was at the time of the allegation Archbishop of Sydney . The Hughes Inquiry was a Canadian royal commission launched after allegations of sexual abuse by members of the Congregation of Christian Brothers at Mount Cashel Orphanage in Newfoundland. Further investigations followed into allegations at other institutions across Canada. The inquiry concluded that officials had transferred offenders and covered up the sexual abuse at Mount Cashel. It recommended that victims be compensated. There was insufficient evidence to charge church and government officials with obstructing justice.
