Mergeto public sociology date April 2010 This is a term by Michael Burawoy . It provides the conceptual frameworks and bodies of knowledge without which public sociology nor policy sociology could function. Professional sociology is restricted to an academic audience, which one can enter after one is trained in the discipline. Professional sociologists do not interact directly with the public. Within professional sociology there are a number of research programs that solve sets of puzzles regarding the social world . It provides critical sociologists, policy sociologists and public sociologists with frameworks of knowledge to allow them to develop findings in their own specific fields. sociologySociology of language focuses on the language s effect on the society . It is closely related to the field of sociolinguistics , which focuses on the effect of the society on the language. One of its longest and most prolific proponents is Joshua Fishman , who among other major contributions, founded and still edits the International Journal of the Sociology of Language . A sociology of language would seek to understand the way that social dynamics are affected by individual and group language use. It would have to do with who is authorized to use what language, with whom and under what conditions. It would have to do with how an individual or group identity is established by the language that they have available for them to use. It would seek to understand individual expression, one s libidinal investment in the linguistic tools that one has access to in order to bring oneself to other people.
