Push IMAP , which is otherwise known as P IMAP or Push extensions for Internet Message Access Protocol , is based on IMAPv4 Rev1 RFC 3501 but contains additional enhancements for optimization in a mobile setting. It was developed by Oracle Corporation Oracle and other partners, and it was submitted as input to the Lemonade Profile IETF Working Group however, P IMAP was not included in the Lemonade Profile RFC 4550 . The protocol The protocol was designed to provide for a secure way to automatically keep communicating new messages between a server and a mobile device like a Personal digital assistant PDA or Smartphone . It should reduce the time and effort needed to synchronize messages between the two by using an open connection that is kept alive by some kind of heartbeat. To reduce necessary Bandwidth computing bandwidth , it uses compression and command Macro computer science macros . Additionally, P IMAP features a mechanism for sending e mail that is derived from but not identical to SMTP , and so a rich e mail service is provided using a single connection. P IMAP should not be viewed as an alternative to the IMAP IDLE command RFC 2177 . In fact, IDLE is one of the required mechanisms for a P IMAP server to notify the client optional notifications are SMS or WAP Push . Other mobile technologies Although they are both based on IMAP, the Yahoo Mail and MobileMe push email services for iPhone do not use a standard form of P IMAP. A push moraine or pushed moraine is in geomorphology a moraine a landform formed by glacier glacial processes that forms when the terminus advance of a lowland glacier pushes unstratified glacial sediment into a pile or linear ridge in front of it. A push moraine is identified by its ability to push sediment upwards from its original horizontal position. Push moraines are limited in size by the advance of a glacier front and its tendency to shear over the top of any ridge large enough to resist the movement of ice. Pushed moraines generally occur in low, flat plains at higher latitude s and were formed during the glacial stage s of the Quaternary glaciation Quaternary ice age . They can be up to 100 km long and several hundreds of meters in height. Pushed moraines can be found in the North American plains, in Siberia and in Northern Europe. They were formed during cool, glacial stages, when glaciers advanced and covered large parts of North America and Eurasia. In some regions pushed moraines of more than one glacial stage can be recognized, or different generations from a single glacial phase. Since new glacial advances tend to destroy older pushed moraines, most were formed during the last 110,000 to 10,000 years ago or second last 238,000 to 128,000 years ago glacial advances. The Push Stars are an American rock band, formed in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1996. The band members include Chris Trapper , Ryan MacMillan and Dan McLoughlin. They developed a following playing shows in Boston, then released their first album, Meet Me at the Fair in 1996. Since then, they have released three more studio albums, as well as a live compilation album, and have had several of their songs featured in television, film, and soundtracks. As of now, the band is on hold as frontman Chris Trapper is again working on his solo career and Ryan MacMillan is playing drums with Matchbox Twenty .
