Orphan date March 2010 Alexander Dmitrievich Ogorodnik lang ru , 1939 June 22, 1977 in Moscow was a Soviet Diplomat , operating under the cryptonym code name Trianon and Trigon who, while stationed in Bogot , was blackmailed by Colombian intelligence agents into spying against the Soviet Union. While he initially showed little promise and claimed he knew only of Colombian political affairs, he was later transferred to the Soviet Foreign Ministry in Moscow . In this new position, he was able to photograph a great deal of secret diplomatic cable s, many of which were sent daily to the White House . Ogorodnik eventually requested a suicide pill to be used in the event that he was caught. His chief handler, famed CIA traitor Aldrich Ames , was able to supply him with one, and in 1977 Trigon used it after being betrayed by a Czechoslovakian translator working for the CIA, called Karl Koecher . After a brief work on industrial and railway projects, with the outbreak of World War I , he was drafted into military engineers corps. In 1918, he completed a second degree, in art studies, and joined the faculty of Moscow State University . In 1921, Baranovsky settled for the first of his ten expeditions to the Russian North. In the course of his life he surveyed and recorded hundreds of architectural landmarks ranging from White Sea to Ukraine and Azerbaijan . In late 1920s, in the middle of anti religious campaigns, he restored Kazan Cathedral, Moscow Kazan Cathedral in Red Square , clearing the medieval landmark from alterations of later centuries.
