  1. QSIG

QSIG is an Integrated Services Digital Network ISDN based signaling protocol for signaling between private branch exchange s PBXs in a Telephone exchange private integrated services network PISN . It makes use of the connection level Q.931 protocol and the application level Remote Operations Service Element protocol ROSE protocol. ISDN proper functions as the physical link layer. QSIG was originally developed by Ecma International , adopted by ETSI and is defined by a set of International Organization for Standardization ISO standard documents, so is not owned by any company. This allows interoperability between communications platforms provided by disparate vendors. QSIG has two layers, called BC basic call and GF generic function . QSIG BC describes how to set up calls between PBXs. QSIG GF provides supplementary services for large scale corporate, educational, and government networks, such as line ... of large networks. 1. H.450

Unreferenced date December 2009 Wikify date December 2009 H.450 refers to a set of standards created by the International Telecommunications Union ITU to define several Supplementary Services of the packet based telecommunication protocol known as H.323 . It parallels another set of standards known as QSIG which define similar services for ISDN based networks. H.450.1 , Supplementary Services Framework The general mechanism for delivering supplementary services is explained in this paper. Supplementary services messages are exchanged by means of ROSE Remote Operations Service Extension . H.450.2 , Call Transfer Supplementary Service E.g. explains how a party B can turn an active call between party A and party B into a call between party A and a new party C. H.450.3 , Call Diversion Supplementary Service E.g. explains how an IP phone can activate a diversion to e.g. a cell phone. E.g. explains how an IP phone can interrogate whether it has any active diversion. H.450.4 , Call Hold Supplementary Service E.g. explains how a call can be put on hold and be fed with a music on hold. H.450.5 , Call Park and Pickup Supplementary Service Think of big warehouse, where a call is coming in at the front desk for Mrs. Smith. The front desk parks the call and broadcasts via the intercom Mrs. Smith, please 223 . Mrs. Smith proceeds soon after to the next wall phone, dials 223 and gets the call. H.450.6 , Call Waiting Supplementary Service Explains how to signal a second call to an IP phone already engaged in an active call. H.450.7 , Message Waiting Indication Supplementary Service Explains elements related to voicebox systems and how these can be implemented by means of H.323. H.450.8 , Name Identification Supplementary Service Explains how names are displayed or how to intentionally call incognito. H.450.9 , Call Completion Supplementary Service Explains how to schedule an automatic call back request in case of a remote party being busy in a call or being absent for a while and b ...   more details

  1. H.323

external links date April 2012 H.323 is a recommendation from the ITU T ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector ITU T that defines the protocols to provide audio visual communication sessions on any packet network . The H.323 standard addresses call signaling and control, multimedia transport and control, and bandwidth control for point to point and multi point conferences. ref name Davidson cite book last Davidson first Jonathan coauthors James Peters, Jim Peters, Brian Gracely title Voice over IP fundamentals publisher Cisco Press pages 229 230 chapter H.323 url http books.google.com books?id S5P7 Xtq7W8C&pg PA229 isbn 9781578701681 ref It is widely implemented ref http www.h323forum.org products services H.323 Forum List of Products and Services ref by voice and videoconferencing equipment manufacturers, is used within various Internet real time applications such as GnuGK and NetMeeting and is widely deployed worldwide by service providers and enterprises for both voice and video services over Internet Protocol IP networks. It is a part of the ITU T H.32x series of protocols, which also address multimedia communications over Integrated Services Digital Network ISDN , the public switched telephone network PSTN or Signaling System 7 SS7 , and 3G mobile network s. H.323 call signaling is based on the ITU T Recommendation Q.931 protocol and is suited for transmitting calls across networks using a mixture of IP, PSTN, ISDN, and QSIG over ISDN. A call model, similar to the ISDN call model, eases the introduction of IP telephony into existing networks of ISDN based Private branch exchange PBX systems, including transitions to IP based PBXs. Within the context of H.323, an IP based PBX might be a H.323 Gatekeeper gatekeeper or other call control element which provides service to telephone s or videophone s. Such a device may provide or facilitate both basic services and supplementary services, such as call transfer , Call parking park , Call pickup pick up , and Hol ...   more details
