Archaeological excavations in the Qafzeh Qafzeh Cave in the mountain found human remains, whose estimated age is 90,000 years old. Those humans were buried properly. Pottery found in the site and other findings indicate that the place was used for residence as well as for burial. During the 20th century the mountain was used as a quarry, now abandoned. The prehistoric site, was first excavated by Dorothy Garrod in the summer of 1928. The excavations revealed the first evidence of the late Epipalaeolithic Natufian culture, characterised by the presence of abundant microliths , human burials and ground stone tools. Jebel Irhoud is an archaeology archaeological cave site located near Sidi Moktar , about 100 km west of Marrakesh , Morocco . Since circa 1991 7 significant hominid fossil s have been discovered, and are currently dated to circa 160,000 years ago.
