Qu Tongfeng , , 1873 1929 was a general that served Yuan Shikai and the Anhui clique . Qu Tongfeng was born in Fushan County, now in Yantai , Fushan District of Shandong . At the age of 16 he joined the Beiyang Fleet , and served as second class engineer on the Chinese turret ship Dingyuan Dingyuan during the First Sino Japanese War . When the ship was sunk in the Battle of the Yalu River 1894 Battle of the Yalu River , he escaped into the sea and was rescued. He went on to get a higher education and was sent to the Imperial Japanese Army Academy in 1903, graduating in 1904. Upon his return he was given an infantry unit command. In 1907, he was given posts in the Beiyang Army in charge of drill, discipline and inspection. In 1910, he was promoted to command of a unit in Yunan . Following the 1911 Wuchang Uprising Qu rose in revolt, becoming commander of the 2nd Division. In 1912 he was promoted to Major General. He was made President of the Baoding Military Academy from 1913 to 1915. He was removed after opposing the Yuan Shikai s capitulation to the Twenty One Demands . Following the death of Yuan Shikai Qu was given military commands again by the Anhui clique. In 1920, he was the Anhui army frontline commander in chief in the Zhili Anhui War . Wu Peifu led the Zhili clique army in a daring maneuver to capture the Anhui army headquarters after first outflanking the enemy, capturing Qu Tongfeng and many of his fellow officers. Biography Born in Qiantang , now Hangzhou , Qu You was famous as an adolescent poet . He became a teacher official in Lin an , then promoted to be the Head of Secretary of the Zhou Kingdom. But at the height of his career, he was jailed for ten years. After his release in 1425, he worked as a tutor in the household of Lord of Ying State . He was reinstated as an official, but he resigned shortly, never returning to the world of politics again, in action. His works, though entertaining, have undertone that expresses concerns and discontent that he had with politics of the Ming Empire. Qu Bochuan November 16, 1909 February 18, 1997 , was a scholar and educator in China, who was the principal founder of the Dalian University of Technology . Biography In 1928, Bochuan went to Nanjing University for his bachelor degree of chemistry. In 1934, he went to Germany and later got his doctoral degree from the Dresden University of Technology , majoring in Chemical Engineering. Then he came back to China in 1938, exploring a way to improve the Chinese technical and educational development. Introduced by Zhou Enlai , he went to Yan an ,Later the same year, he participated in the foundation of the Yan an Institute of Natural Science , directly reported to Mao Zedong on this project, and held the position of the academic dean of the Institute. From 1938 to 1948, he served as a variety of technical development positions assigned by the central government, e.g.,the director of the experimental institute of the Shanxi Chaha er Hebei Military Area. Then he was sent to the city of Dalian to initialize the first Technology University of the Communist Party. He then served as the first president of Dalian University of Technology from September, 1948 to September, 1981, interrupted by the Cultural Revolution. In 1980, based on the cooperation agreement between the US and Chinese governments, together with Dr.Jordan J. Baruch , and many others, founded the first MBA program in China in the Dalian University of Technology.
