It was located in former Fort IX of Warsaw Fortress . The inside exhibitions of the museum closed in 2009 because the building it was occupying was judged as unfit to receive visitors. They will reopen when the building is repaired. Heavy military equipment outside still can be visited. Originally, the boilers were heated by the burning of waste collected around the city. To cope with pumping demand after heavy rainfall, in 1904 two gas engine s were added to the pumping station. Of these, one is in working order.
