Jim Peck , making his national television debut, was host with Dan Daniel, then a disc jockey on New York City s WHN radio, as announcer. The series was recorded at ABC s New York studios and packaged by Don Lipp and Ron Greenberg , with assistance by Universal Television MCA Television . Gameplay Round 1 The Big Showdown Three contestants competed. Before the round began, a payoff point was announced and a dollar value selected from a randomizer in Peck s podium 25, 50, 75, 100, or 500 . Peck read a one point toss up question. The first player to buzz in and correctly answer it chose from one of six available categories, ranging in point values from 1 6, represented by faces of a die. Play continued with contestants answering tossup questions from the categories and earning the associated point values. Contestants who answered a question incorrectly were locked out for the remainder of that question and their opponents were given a chance to answer. Contestants were also locked out from answering if the question s value would put them over the current payoff point, as it had to be hit exactly. The first player whose score reached the payoff point won the dollar value and a new payoff point was determined, raised proportionally to several points above the leading contestant s score. The first round consisted of at least four payoff points sometimes five, depending on the amount of ti ...   more details

  1. Sim horse game

Multiple issues wikify September 2010 refimprove March 2011 peacock March 2011 Sim horse games abbreviated form of simulated horse games , also called cyberbarn games , horse sims , or virtual horse games , are online browser based games. Sim horse game generally fall into one of two categories traditional classic forum or automated semi automated. Closely lined are All Sim and equine RPGs. Classic vs Automated sim games Classic or traditional sim horse games emerged in the 1980s as an opportunity for racing enthusiast s to own race horse s online and are a branch of life simulation game s. These games initially were run via email and throughout the course of the 1990s a divergence occurred. Racing gave way to showing and email communication was revolutionized as chat forums began to overtake the sim community. Members were then able to track data in a public place, campaign and breed their horses with one another, and the games became less of a simulation and more of a community. Many sites encourage members to build their own stables to display horse information including show results, photographs, and etc. Most classic sims emphasize realism in gameplay. Today classic sim games still utilize forum style game play. Many forums are ingenious in their integration of realistic information and statistics right down to BBcode ingenuity. The middle ground of classic and fully automated sim began in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Hybrid sims utilize classic stylings of forum gameplay but often integrate dynamic pages to simplify record keeping. For example a hybrid sim may have ebanking available for members so checks do not have to be manually collected or tallied. Other hybrid games choose to utilize a discipline specific randomizer for show results and utilize PHP technologies to immediately place results in a community database accessible to all. The most significant factor which defines a sim horse game as a hybrid is the integration of forum style game play with s ...   more details

Infobox game title Everway image caption designer Jonathan Tweet publisher Wizards of the Coast , Rubicon Games , Gaslight Press since 2001 date 1995 genre Fantasy system Custom footnotes Everway is a fantasy role playing game ref cite journal author Staff title Review Everway journal Shadis year 1996 month March issue 25 ref first published by Wizards of the Coast under their Alter Ego brand in the mid 1990s. Its lead designer was Jonathan Tweet . Marketed as a Visionary Roleplaying Game , it has often been characterized as an innovative piece with a limited commercial success. Wizards later abandoned the line, and Rubicon Games purchased it, and published several supplements. The line was sold again to Gaslight Press in February 2001. The game has a fantasy setting of the Parallel universe fiction multiverse type, with many different worlds, some of which differed from generic fantasy. It appears to have been heavily influenced by divinatory tarot , the four classical element s of History of Ancient Greece ancient Greece , and mythology mythologies from around the world. Everway was first with implementing, in a commercial game, several new concepts including much more picture based visual source material and character creation than usual. Like other works by Jonathan Tweet , the rules are very simple and flexible. It is also one of a few diceless role playing game s. Although the Fortune Deck works as a randomizer, the results obtained by it are entirely arbitrary and subjective, and the GM s absolute power over the game is further emphasized by the three resolution systems Karma the higher character ability wins, modified by situation , Drama the GM decides what happens, by what they think most appropriate , and Fortune more or less the same as the above, with interpretation flavored by a card draw . The original edition contained the Fortune deck of thirty six cards, used for divination and action resolution, as well as ninety Vision cards used as source materi ...   more details

  1. 64b/66b encoding

In data networking and transmission, 64b 66b is a line code that transforms 64 bit data to 66 bit line code to provide enough state changes to allow reasonable clock recovery and facilitate alignment of the data stream at the receiver. The overhead of the 64b 66b encoding is 3.125 , which is considerably less than the more common 8b 10b encoding scheme which has a 25 overhead. At the time 64b 66b was deployed, it allowed 10Gb Ethernet to be transmitted with the same lasers used by SONET OC 192, rather than requiring 12.5 Gb s lasers which were not expected to available for several years. Function As the scheme name suggests, 64 bit s of data are transmitted as a 66 bit entity. The 66 bit entity is made by prefixing one of two possible two bit preambles to the 64 bits to be transmitted. If the preamble is 01 , the 64 bits are entirely data If the preamble is 10 , an eight bit type field follows, plus 56 bits of control information and or data The preambles 00 and 11 are not used, and generate an error if seen. The use of the 01 and 10 preambles guarantees a bit transition every 66 bits, which means that a continuous stream of 0s or 1s cannot be valid data. It also allows easier clock timer synchronization, as a transition must be seen every 66 bits. The complete payload consisting of either 64 data bits, or 56 data bits type byte are then scrambled using a self synchronous scrambler randomizer scrambler function, with the intention of ensuring that a relatively even distribution of 1s and 0s are normally found in the transmitted data. The intention is not to encrypt the data, but to give the transmitted data useful engineering properties. The scrambler does not provide an absolute guarantee that output data will never have a long run length of 0s or all 1s or other undesirable properties, but instead allows strong statistical bounds to be put on the probability of such events. Practical designs will choose system parameters such that a bit error due to long run lengt ...   more details

Summary of Rules All audience members wore name tags a la The Price is Right but only those that earned their way on to the show by means of a Massachusetts lottery ticket were chosen to be in the contestant s pool. Hayes would spin a wheel that was hooked to a randomizer. When the wheel stopped, whoever s face the spotlight shined on got to play a mini game, in addition to winning a set of lottery tickets.
