Visible also from Kathmandu valley it has an elegant pyramid shaped figure and is an ideal target for photographers and mountaineers. Considered by many of intermediate difficulty with easiest route from the west ridge. Its climb is offered by many trek&mountain agencies in Nepal . Climbing history The first attempt and successful climb recorded is by a Japanese expedition in the late 60 by the west ridge. An other attempt was made by a 7 members team Italian expedition ADC89 during fall of 1989, again from the west ridge and approach from south. The climb was stopped after Camp 1 at approx 6100m due to instable snow and avalanche danger on the ridge. In the following years 1991? a German expedition successfully climbed the mountain again by the west ridge. Khunpang Lhawang Dorje K un spangs lha dbang rdo rje late 16th century was a prince of the Tsangpa Dynasty that held power in parts of Central Tibet , especially Tsang Tsang West Central Tibet , between 1565 and 1642. Khunpang Lhawang Dorje was one of the nine sons of the king of Upper Tsang Tsang , Karma Tseten , who founded the dynasty in 1565. When his father was still alive he became involved in a dispute among a regional noble family, the Changdakpa. Two brothers called Namkha Gyaltsen and Tashi Tobgyal were in disagreement. Khunpang Lhawang Dorje supported the elder brother. His father Karma Tseten endorsed his judgment and banned the junior brother Tashi Tobgyal from Tsang, forcing him in exile to region East Central Tibet . Tashi Tobgyal 1550? 1603 was a disciple of the Nyingma lama Jampa Chokyi Gyaltsen and well versed in tantric practices. Dondup Tseten Dorje Don grub ts e brtan rdo rje fl. 16th century was the penultimate prince of the Rinpungpa Dynasty which held power in Tsang Tsang West Central Tibet between 1435 and 1565. Dondup Tseten Dorje was the second son of the Rinpungpa lord Ngawang Namgyal Rinpungpa Ngawang Namgyal .
