Ryan , Case citation 293 U.S. 388 1935 , also known as the Hot Oil case , was a case in which the Supreme Court of the United States United States Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Roosevelt Administration s prohibition of interstate and foreign trade in petroleum goods produced in excess of state quotas&mdash the hot oil orders adopted under the 1933 National Industrial Recovery Act . The ruling was the first of several which overturned key elements of the Administration s New Deal legislative program. The relevant section 9 c of the NIRA was found to be an unconstitutional delegation of legislative power in that it permitted Presidential interdiction of trade without defining criteria for the application of the proposed restriction. The finding thus differed from later Court rulings which argued that Federal government action affecting intrastate production breached the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution Constitution in Panama v. Ryan the Court found that Congress had violated the nondelegation doctrine by vesting the President with legislative powers without clear guidelines, giving the President enormous and unchecked powers. The omission of Congressional guidance on State petroleum production ceilings occasioned the adverse ruling ... 1948168 External links wikisource Panama Refining Co. v. - Colonial Sugar Refining Company (Fiji)
TOCright The Colonial Sugar Refining Company CSR began operations in Fiji in 1880 and until it ceased operations in 1973, had a considerable influence on the Politics of Fiji political and Economy of Fiji economic life of Fiji. Prior to its expansion to Fiji, the CSR was operating sugar refinery Sugar Refineries in Melbourne and Auckland . The decision to enter into the production of raw sugar and sugar cane plantation was due to the Company s desire to shield itself from fluctuations in the price of raw sugar needed to run its refining operations. In May 1880 Fiji s Colonial Secretary John Bates Thurston persuaded the Colonial Sugar Refining Company to extend their operations into Fiji by making available 2,000 acres 8 km of land to establish plantations. CSR Mills in Fiji Sugar production had started in Fiji with the collapse of the cotton price in early 1870s. Many small sugar mills were established but these were badly managed and not profitable. During the period of low sugar prices in the 1890s, most of these mills closed, leaving only four mills in operation in Fiji at the turn of the century. CSR s first Mill in Fiji started crushing sugar cane in Nausori in 1882. Another mill was built at Viria and crushed from 1886 to 1895. It was closed because it was too small to be viable. The Chalmers brothers built the Penang Rakiraki Sugar Mill Penang Mill in 1880 and sold it to Melbourne Trust Company in 1896. The mill was enlarged with machinery from Mago Island where a mill had closed in 1895 and the increased crushing capacity together with favourable weather conditions enabled the mill to operate independently. The Penang was closed down in 1922 but reopened in 1925 by the Penang Company ref FIJI Handbook of the Colony, Government Printer, Suva, 1936, p. 65 ref . In 1926 ... concessions. - K factor crude oil refining
Refimprove date December 2010 The K factor or Characterization factor is a systematic way of classifying a crude oil according to is paraffinic , naphthenic , intermediate or aromatic nature. 12.5 or higher indicate a crude oil of predominantly paraffinic constituents, while 10 or lower indicate a crude of more aromatic nature. The K factor is also referred to as the UOP K factor or just UOPK . In the oil and gas engineering industry, the K factor formula is used to calculate pressure drop across fittings or a set of fittings in a piping system. K factor, when multiplied by v2 2, gives pressure drop across the fittings. K factor can also be used to find out the equivalent length of all the fittings in a piping system. When the total pressure drop across a line straight line fittings is divided by pressure drop per unit length for that line, the result is equivalent straight length of that piping system accounting for all the bends and fittings.
