North Regina is a neighbourhood in the Regina Northeast Northeast quadrant of the city of Regina, Saskatchewan Regina , Saskatchewan . Postwar, the city adopted a de facto metropolitan form of government by annexing the independent village of North Regina , located around the Canadian National Railway yards in the city s northwest, and what was then called the North Annex, Regina North Annex a motley collection of houses outside the city s northern limits along Broad Street, but within the Rural Municipality of Sherwood No. 159, Saskatchewan Sherwood , which surrounds the city. In both cases, the prime motivating factor in amalgamation was the prospect of these districts getting connected to the city s water lines for drinking water and sewage. Financial aid from the provincial government eased this process. Demographics Prior to January 1, 1951, North Regina was incorporated as a village , and was amalgamated with the City of Regina, Saskatchewan Regina on that date. ref cite web author publisher Saskatchewan Ministry of Municipal Affairs title Restructured Villages accessdate 2008 02 10 url http www.municipal.gov.sk.ca div munadvisory munchanges restructvillages.html archiveurl http web.archive.org web 20080325234155 http www.municipal.gov.sk.ca div munadvisory munchanges restructvillages.html archivedate March 25, 2008 ref See also List of Regina, Saskatchewan neighbourhoods List of neighbourhoods in Regina Canadian City Geographic Location 8 way Northwest North Northeast West Centre North Annex East Southwest South Southeast image Flag of Calgary, Alberta.svg External links 2001 Neighbourhood Profile http web.archive.org web 20070927224620 http www.regina.ca pdfs ReginaProfile.pdf Regina Neighbourhood Map References reflist coord missing Saskatchewan Category Neighbourhoods in Regina, Saskatchewan ... more details
