primarysources date June 2010 Humanity s Team is a spiritual movement whose purpose is to awaken the world to the ancient truth and sacred belief that We Are All One one with God and one with life, expressing a shared global state of unity so that humanity s behavior may shift to reflect this understanding, thereby enabling a sustainable world of peace and harmony and happiness to evolve. Dubbed a civil rights movement for the soul, the movement reports having some 60,000 adherents from more than 150 countries on six continents. It was created by the spiritual author Neale Donald Walsch in 2003 in response to the crisis that he saw the human race facing following the 9 11 events. Humanity s Team proposes a New Spirituality that enlarges and enhances humanity s current beliefs about God and about life in ways, the movement contends, that could change how humans live with each other, bringing peace and harmony to Earth at last. The New Spirituality is not a new religion, according to the movement. Rather, it is an expansion of all present human theologies an updating of them a refreshing of them, rendering all current sacred teachings even more relevant to the present day and time. Key .... It was released in November 2003 on Disaster Records and follows the 2000 album, Youth, Betrayal and the Awakening . After recording three successful albums for the Epitaph Records label, the band encountered line up problems which had actually started on Youth, Betrayal and the Awakening where Jos Mercado had to carry out lead and rhythm guitar duties as well as bass and this time lost vocalist Edward Escoto. The focal point of this album remains squarely on Jose Mercado s word packed lyrics and his blistering vocals. Bassist Rudy Ramos and drummer Louie Villareal provide overdrive rhythm backup. Though the band is often described as Latino Hardcore, their sound is more reminiscent of Black Flag, Fear, and Bad Religion. Mercado delivers his lyrics in a fusillade that often obscures both their bilingualism three of the album s sixteen tracks are in Spanish , and the words themselves. It took the band three years for their follow up to be released, although they had started recording material straight away, and bassist Rudy Ramos was called up to swell the ranks. Jos Mercado and drummer, Louie Villareal, assumed vocal spots. In spite of these problems, the band were still able to carry out high profile tours in the United States. Despite the group s non theistic beliefs, the court determined that the activities of the Fellowship of Humanity, which included weekly Sunday meetings, were analogous to the activities of theistic churches and thus entitled to an exemption. The Fellowship of Humanity case itself referred to humanism but did not mention the term secular humanism . Nonetheless, this case was cited by Justice Black to justify the inclusion of Secular Humanism in the list of religions in his note.
