It is performed starting with the arms extended forwards and hands flat against each other either palm to palm or back to back , then spreading the hands apart with a rending motion until the arms point out to both sides and the body is in a T shape. Frau Sorge Dame Care is the first of Hermann Sudermann s complete novel s 1887 and the work which brought him his fame as a writer of fiction. Theme The story is conceived around the imaginative legend of Frau Sorge, with which the story ends. It is the story of a mother so poor and lonely that she had no one to act as godmother for her son except Dame Care, who offers to see that the boy grows up to be a good man who shall never go hungry if his mother will give the boy s soul, with his youth and his hope of happiness, as a hostage to Dame Care. Critique The rending of the charm by the power of a woman s love and the solemn, but never tragic, quality of the story, are distinguishing characteristics of Sudermann s work. As an art work it is the most perfect, and it is the one which shows least the wear and tear of a generation of social change. Those may be merely two ways of saying the same thing namely, that in a writer who combines, as Sudermann does, the qualities of a poet and a realist, the more highly imaginative works have a more permanent value than the controversial ones. Into this grim tale of East Prussia n peasant life, with its hint of autobiography in the spirit and the scene, if not in the story, Sudermann has infused something of the spirit of the epic the narrative of a toiler battling against the forces of nature. Written by Christopher Durang , the play was initially commissioned by City Theatre Pittsburgh City Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania when Durang was asked by Artistic Director Tracy Brigden to write a Christmas comedy. It premiered on November 7, 2002. The premise of the parody is the question, What if Dickens Mrs. Cratchit wasn t so goody goody, but instead was an angry, stressed out modern day American woman who wanted out of this harsh London 1840s life? The main character in Binge is the hard drinking, suicidal Gladys Cratchit, whose harshness to her family surpasses Mommy Dearest by a mile. The other 2 leads are The Ghost and Ebenezer Scrooge . The Ghost, whose character is written to be an African American woman, plays the narrator role as she escorts Ebenezer Scrooge through the past, present and future of his life. But, as she says, everything keeps going kaplooey because she can t get her magic to work properly. In their first journey, the Ghost tries to take Scrooge to his past at the Fezziwig Christmas party, but they end up at the Cratchits home in the present, where we meet Mrs. Cratchit and her eternally hungry yet eternally sunny children, all 21 of them. The majority of the 21 live in a bunch in the root cellar. Most of the characters retain their original Dickensian qualities. Ebenezer Scrooge is old and miserly. Bob Cratchit is the gentle family man who is the primary target of Scrooge s cheapness. Tiny Tim A Christmas Carol Tiny Tim is crippled and heart rending. Equally heart rending is Little Nell from Dickens The Old Curiosity Shop , who appears as one of the Cratchit children. In typical Durang style, these qualities are heightened and shaded dark not to blackness this time, just to blueness to give it his brand of comic tone. Radner equilibrium is an economic concept defined by economist Roy Radner in the context of general equilibrium . The concept is an extension of the Arrow Debreu equilibrium and the base for the first consistent incomplete markets framework. The departure from the Arrow Debreu framework are two fold 1 uncertainty is explicitly modelled through a tree structure or equivalent filtration rending passage of time and resolution of uncertainty explicit, 2 budget feasibility is no longer defined as affordability but through explicit trading of financial instruments. Financial instruments are used to allow insurance and inter temporal wealth transfers across spot markets at each nodes of the tree. Economic agents face a sequence of budget sets, one at each date state. Item 2 introduces the concept of incomplete markets, formulated in terms of net trade, the budget set is contained in a half space intersecting the positive cone of contingent goods at zero net trade only this is called absence of arbitrage . This is because without transaction cost agents will demand an infinite amount of any trade promising positive consumption in some state and no negative net trade against that in any other good and state. This half space, containing the budget set and separating it from the free lunch cone, corresponds to a half line of positive prices. However potentially if not enough instruments are present, the full half space may not be spanned by trading the instruments and the budgets set may be strictly smaller. In such a configuration markets are said to be incomplete, and there are several ways to separate the budget set from the positive cone sometimes called the free lunch cone . This means that several price systems become admissible. At a Radner equilibrium like the Arrow Debreu equilibrium under uncertainty, perfect consensual foresight is used. It is what is called a rational expectation model. External links http cepa.newschool.edu het essays sequence radnerequil.htm Radn ... more details

File Book cover of The Journey of the Lost Boys .JPG thumb right The Journey of the Lost Boys 2005 is a non fiction book by Joan Hecht about The Lost Boys of Sudan . The Lost Boys are a group of young children who became separated from their parents due to civil war in their homeland. With little food and water and no protection from wild animals and enemy soldiers that stalked them night and day, these children banded together walking over a thousand miles across the wilds of Africa in search of safe refuge. The Journey of the Lost Boys is a chronological timeline of the epic journey taken by these children, beginning in their rural villages of Southern Sudan and ending with their arrival as young men to the United States . Narrated through the voice of Hecht, one of their American mentors, whom they lovingly call mom or Mama Joan it is a compelling story of courage, faith, and the sheer determination to survive by a group of young orphaned boys called The Lost Boys of Sudan . Because of Ms.Hecht s personal relationship with the Lost Boys , she is able to portray their story intimately. In addition to Hecht s extensive research regarding the political and historical events surrounding the civil war between the North and South, are the heart rending personal stories, photos and drawings of the boys themselves. The book took first place in education at the Promoting Outstanding Writers POW International Book Awards, earning Ms. Hecht the title 2005 Author of the Year .
