The Kobra is a Zamperla flat ride based in Chessington World Of Adventures , a theme park in London. As with all rides of its type, riders sit in a motorcycle like position in outward facing seats at the edge of the circular ride platform. The ride model features an airtime hill AKA camel back hump in the middle of the track, and two steep slopes at either end. The platform spins and travels backwards and forwards along the track at moderate speed. The Kobra features two large snake statues at either end of the track giving the ride its name. Riders sit at the edge of a circular ride car, which spins along 90m of track at 43mph. The ride model includes a camel back hill in the centre of the track to give the car airtime as it travels over. The Ride for Heart is a charity bicycle ride organized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and sponsored by Becel brand margarine . The Ride takes place on Toronto s Don Valley Parkway DVP and Gardiner Expressway , major six lane highways leading into the downtown core on the eastern and southern side of the city. On the first Sunday of every June, the DVP and Gardiner are closed and turned over to the Ride in the morning. Three routes are planned out, at 25, 50 and 75 km, and shorter rollerblading events have been added as well. The staged starts and other efforts to improve traffic flow. Riders can choose from three routes 25k, 50k or 75k, offering a challenge for recreational and endurance riders alike. The first Ride took place on this route in 1987, and has grown immensely since then. In 2011 the Ride for Heart, attracted a capacity 13,000 riders and raised 3.9 million in funds towards heart and stroke research, education and advocacy. Nine out of ten Canadians are at risk of heart disease or stroke conditions, and one in three Canadians die from heart disease or stroke. Each year, about 250,000 potential years of life are lost in Canada due to cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and other chronic heart related conditions. Many of the design elements were later used in the HUSS Rainbow ride Rainbow , and the term Ranger has become synonymous with inverting pendulum rides.
