He married Margaret Howarden 1693&ndash 1758 in 1717. He was a member of New York colonial assembly, 1726&ndash 27. Following the death of his father, the first Lord of Livingston Manor , in 1728, most of the manor was inherited by the eldest son Philip Livingston , but 13,000 acres 53  km in the southwest corner, later named Clermont, was willed to Robert Livingston 1688&ndash 1775 , a younger son. He served as judge of the admiralty court from 1760 to 1763 and as justice of the colonial supreme court in 1763. He was a delegate to the Stamp Act Congress of 1765, and, in 1775, a member of the Committee of Sixty Committee of One Hundred , which briefly governed New York City .     Robert Livingston was born in New York City in January 1933. He grew up in New York, California and Texas, and graduated from Cornell University . He spent two years in Japan and Korea in the U.S. Army in the early 1950s, and studied and travelled in Europe after his Army discharge. After three years as a registered representative of the New York Stock Exchange, he returned to Europe where he was head of an international financial services corporation for ten years. He then retired from the business world and began practising Zen with Master Taisen Deshimaru in Paris. He became a close disciple of Deshimaru, who made Livingston a Zen teacher. Before his death in 1982, Deshimaru asked him to go to America and open a Zen dojo and teach true Zen practice in the United States. Livingston Roshi founded the American Zen Association and the New Orleans Zen Temple in 1983, and has been teaching in this country ever since. He was the first bishop to be raised with the church. Rudolph also served as Professor of Dogmatic Theology and Christian Ethics at the Reformed Episcopal Seminary Theological Seminary of the Reformed Episcopal Church in Philadelphia for twenty seven years before his death. Together Rudolph and his son, Robert Knight Rudolph , trained men for the gospel ministry at this institution for a total of seventy four years. Rudolph was widely recognized as an outstanding preacher, teacher, scholar and bishop. Biography Rudolph was born and reared in New York City, attending city schools through the eighth grade. Until the age of ten, he and his family went to the Fourth German Reformed Mission Reformed Church in America RCA pastored by Dr. John H. Oerter. At that time, to encourage Rudolph to learn English, the family joined the First Reformed Episcopal Church pastored by Rev. William T. Education Ireland was born in Cleveland and attended University School in Shaker Heights, Ohio and went on to prepare for college at The Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut . Ireland graduated from Asheville School in North Carolina in 1914. From 1914 1915 he also attended Phillips Andover Academy followed by studying mining engineering at Yale University . Ireland left Yale during World War I and enlisted in the Naval Reserve Flying Corps. Business Ireland had a long career with the M.A. Hanna Company founded by his father in law, Howard Melville Hanna . He also had a long run with Consolidation Coal Company . From 1920 1924, Ireland worked for Susquehanna Collieries Company , a subsidiary of Hanna Coal Company in Pennsylvania. In 1924, Ireland returned to Cleveland in and became an assistant to the general manager of SCC. He worked his way up in Hanna Coal and became manager in 1929 followed by president in 1931.     No footnotes date April 2010 Dr. Robert Livingston Schuyler Feb. 26, 1883 &ndash Aug. 15, 1966 was a prominent scholar of early American history and British history of the same time period. He was an educator and an editor. He spent most of his academic career at Columbia University . He was born in New York City. His father Montgomery Schuyler was a journalist and architectural writer, and Katherine Beeckman Livingston, a gifted amateur artist and singer. He began his undergraduate studies in 1899 at Columbia University where he studied under some of the principle founders and shapers of the historical profession in the United States John W. Burgess , William Archibald Dunning , Herbert L. Osgood , and James Harvey Robinson . From them he derived a lifelong interest in constitutional history and an impressive capacity for exploiting documentary materials. He graduated in 1903. He worked as a reporter for The New York Times as he worked on his M.A. from Columbia. He later contributed many book reviews for the newspaper. Upon obtaining his masters degree, he became an instructor in history at Yale University . There he worked with George Burton Adams , whose celebrated textbook on English constitutional history Schuyler revised in 1934. He married Sara Keller Brooks on Oct. 19, 1907. He received his Ph.D from Columbia in 1909 and became a lecturer there the next year. He was promoted to assistant professor in 1911, to associate professor in 1919, and to full professor in 1924. He was given the title of Gouverneur Morris Professor in 1942. In his book, Parliament and the British Empire 1929 Schuyler discredited the old contention which had been recently revived by C.H. McIlwain of Harvard University that the acts against which American colonists had protested in the middle of the eighteenth century were without legal authority.
