During the Roman Sassanid War 421 422 Roman Persian War of 421 422 , he invaded Arzanene and Mesopotamia , besieging Nisibis and defeating seven Persian generals. Three years later, Ardabur and his son Aspar were sent on a campaign to Italy to overthrow the usurper Joannes . Ardabur was captured and held at Ravenna , where he succeeded in subverting some of the usurper s officers. Aspar was then able to capture the city and defeat Joannes. Flavius Paulinus floruit 498 511 was a Roman politician during the reign of Theodoric the Great , and was appointed Romanconsulconsul for the year 498. Life Paulinus was appointed consul in 498, sharing the office with the Eastern consul, John the Hunchback . In 510 Paulinus became a patrikios patricius . King Theodoric of the Ostrogoths gave him all the unused barns of Rome. If so, then these unnamed courtiers would not have included Aurelius Memmius Symmachus, who was Boethius father in law. Life Sabinianus was the son of Sabinianus Magnus , a magister militum per Praetorian prefecture of Illyricum Illyricum 479 481 , and the brother of Moschianus consul 512 Moschianus , who was consul in 512. He married a niece of emperor Anastasius I emperor Anastasius I and was the father of Anastasius consul 517 Anastasius Paulus Probus Sabinianus Pompeius Anastasius , consul in 517. In 505 he held the consulship, while in 508 he was appointed magister militum per Illyricum . He had a big and well equipped army, but near Horreum Margi he was defeated by the combined armies of the Huns , led by Mundo Hun Mundo , and of the Ostrogoths , led by Pitzias.
