It relates to the valley that runs south from Hunafloi in the north of Iceland. Ingimundur , the grandson of a Norway Norwegian chieftain, Ketill Raum , fought for King Harald Finehair of Norway at the battle of Hafrsfjord and was rewarded by him. At the instigation of a fortune teller he moved to Iceland where he lived to old age. The saga follows the story of his family until the arrival of Christianity in the late tenth century. It tells of Howard who had been a Viking great in his youth and was wounded in Scotland and has walked with a limp ever since. Howard has a disagreement with his neighbor Thorbj rn and in the altercation, Howard s son is killed. Howard seeks revenge and with a group of men attempts to confront Thorbj n. Instead of facing Howard Thorbj n flees into the sea and swims away, but Howard gives chase. Thorbj rn climbs up on a small island or rock formation and picks up a large rock to hurl at Howard who is climbing up after him. Then Howard is said to have thought of a different faith he had heard of when he was young abroad and swears that he will take this faith if he manages to survive. Thorbj rn then drops the slippery rock on himself and Howard easily slays him.
