The majority of the route is Autoroutes of France autoroute standard. Route The road commences at Brest, France Brest docks passing the visitor attractions Oceanopolis and Botanical Gardens. Thereafter the road turns south crossing the River Elom on a modern bridge the Pont de l Iroise. The older Pont A. Louppe now closed to vehicular traffic lies on the seaward side. The road passes the town of Plougastel Daoulas and alongside the coast a series of submerged valleys in the Parc Naturale D Armorique . The road passes the town of Ch teaulin and a junction with the Route nationale 164 N164 to Rennes and the Route nationale 12 N12 . The former route taken by the N165 is now numbered by the RD770. The road enters the town of Quimper, Finist re Quimper crossing the river Odet. The road now forms the towns eastern by pass. Biography Career Born in Molsheim Bas Rhin , Fran ois Joseph Westermann entered a cavalry regiment at an early age but soon left the service and went to Paris . He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Revolution, and in 1790 became Secretary greffier of the municipality of Haguenau . After a short imprisonment on a charge of inciting riots in Haguenau, he returned to Paris, where he joined Georges Danton and played an important part in the 10th of August French Revolution attack on the Tuileries on 10 August 1792. He is most widely known for his participation in the War of American Independence , where he saw action in the Battle of Cape Henry in 1781, and the decisive Battle of the Saintes in 1782. Life Destouches was born in Lu on , in the Vend e region of France , in 1727. He entered the French Navy , and by 1767 was a ship s captain. In 1770 he married a young woman from Lu on she bore him a son, Adrien, in 1772, and died while he was away at sea. Returning to Morbihan, he was arrested, and imprisoned at Brest, France Brest . He succeeded, however, in escaping, and began again the struggle against the Revolution.
